John1234
Hello there. I bought a vintage JC120 so I'm looking for a distortion pedal to go with it. Most of the things I see on youtube seem harsh, brittle, sharp and really just nothing to my liking. I'm looking for a distortion pedal that gets a really really deep, rich Cream-esque sound. Heavily distorted yet incredibly subtle. Almost like an "ambient" sort of distortion. My price limit is around $100. Any recommendations appreciate. Thanks. Wow, this actually sounds quite nice man. Going through all the youtube demos man. I was planning on buying the Fat Sandwich. For whatever reason, Guitar Center had them listed for $74.99 last week and now they're back up to the regular price $179.99. Anyone know anything about that? Thanks. Versatile
Hi and welcome.... A couple of things to bear in mind... The Roland JC 120 is renowned for it's crystal clear clean sound As epitomised by Andy Summers in his Police days using spacey FX...delays etc... Rich 'Creamy' OD sounds are often obtained from overdriven valve/tube amps like Marshalls One route would be to explore the various 'Blues' drive pedals available such as Marshall Guv'nor As mentioned the EHX Muffs are good and a bit 'Hendrixy'.... FirstMeasure
EC was a big Fuzz user back in The Cream. I find MXR and Dunlop stuff sounds the most "Classic". I'd stay away from digital Modeling Pedals if you're looking for warmth.
Josh James
Just my two cents....really love the Fulltone RTO, very smooth! Turns my Champ into a Jtm in a click, and you gotta love that. Good luck. J
