GibSinCity
Another new "Classic". An exclusive. The "Doublecut Classic" joins the new Classic Plus and Classic Custom. See those here: http://www.wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/gibson/les_paul_classic.htm The Doublecut: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Les-Paul-Doublecut-Classic-Exclusive.aspx
BigKahune
. That DC LP is really cool. Unfortunately it is currently a MF exclusive in Japan stores only. . <_< .
GibSinCity
Really? Japan only? The "Locate" button on the Gibson page takes you to this page. http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Les-Paul-Doublecut-Classic-Exclusive/Locate.aspx A page with a link to Japanese Gibson dealers AND to Musicians Friend.com. Are you saying Musicians Friend.com doesn't carry it? I thought maybe these were part of the new batch of Classics. Check these out. http://www.wildwoodg...aul_classic.htm The Classic Plus The Classic Custom
Malchik
Those double cuts have been at Musician's Friend for some time. Am I missing something? EDIT: Those classics are gorgeous! I want a natural bad. Musician's Friend also lists a goldtop.
BigKahune
, My bad. Here's a MF page for the DC - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-les-paul-double-cutaway-electric-guitar .
Malchik
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/search/search.jsp?sB=r&question=gibson+les+paul+double+cutaway You have to search "double cutaway". They had them for a while, and cheap too. They also had a p-90 addition as well, sadly, no longer available.
BigKahune
. The single cut Classics are at MF - I don't care for the look of the baked maple fretboards. .
Malchik
Sadly they don't ship until December. The maple fretboard doesn't bother me too much, it's much better than the obeche fretboards we're seeing on the cheaper models. God, I hope they figure this rosewood situation out. I understand the Madagascar situation, but the Gov screwed Gibson with the Indian bi-law.

There's nothing on that page with open-coil Burstbucker Pros. I believe these are fairly new. New enough that when you google "Les Paul Doublecut Classic ", the Gibson page is the only true match. Every other match turns out to be for a regular double cut, or a regular double cut in "Classic" white, etc. The Double Cut Classic: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/Les-Paul-Doublecut-Classic-Exclusive.aspx

Over on the SG subforum - DiamondJig comments - "Had a pre-order in on a 50th aniversary Tony Iommi Sg and was informed today that "Gibson have just put all of these guitar on hold. Also they said Gibson may not even make these due to the wood issues they are having." - http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/75425-wood-issue-is-hitting-home/
BigKahune
That link is for Double Cuts, but not the Double Cut Classic. . . . . Hmmmm . . . . Looks like the same guitars to me - http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/gibson-les-paul-double-cutaway-electric-guitar Same three colors, dark backs (which is unusual), BB pros, same specs. GibSinCity
I read that. I think it also mentioned the Angus SG, being put on "hold" for now. I wonder if any of these models that aren't out yet will ever see production?
Malchik
I think they're giving us this 24 fret SG standard in place of the Iommi signature. I'd like to see the Zappa sig.

Yeah, I see what you mean. What threw me is they're using photos of two guitars. A Doublecut Goldtop with covered pickups, not open-coil. And open-coils when you click the white and ebony. And the name they're using doesn't even mention "Classic". No wonder I thought they were new. I've never actually seen a correct listing.
