WarlKicken
Good Morning All, My first post! I thought I'd sign up to the Gibson forum seeing as after owning a couple of Epiphones a Revolution John Lennon inspired Casino and a Cherry Dot...oh why oh why did I sell my Casino, sorry John :-(, I decided to step up and purchase my first ever and much, much wanted Gibson. Now I know, I know it's only an entry level Les Paul and for the most part I am a massive arch-top fan BUT HEY! it's a satin ebony '60s tribute and it says GIBSON at the top! She arrives tomorrow and it's like I am awaiting my first child. Anyway, I was wondering on a couple of things, also picked up a VOX valvetronic VT20+ but only have an old Venom cable from my younger years. Is there a cable that would do this guitar and amp more justice? I've no further info on my current cable other than it's blue and "VENOM". Any tips on a good cable? If anyone has any decent advice on a good looking and durable strap that would be ace as well. Nothing too fancy, I am just jamming with pals in a garage and in my room. I'll come back and ask for more advice when we sell out Wembley Stadium ;-) Many, many thanks for any info given and apologies if this doesn't really fit in this forum. Cheers, Warl P.S - During the creation and writing of this post, I've realised what a quality pub name the topic title is. "Just gona pop down the Cable n' Strap, comin'?" Jon S.
go getchee a monster cable and you'll never need another one. +1. I've used them for the last decade, and have had 2 go out(which is great considering how much they are used). Lifetime warranty, so you just take it to any Monster cable dealer and they hand you a new one!!

Monster do a range of leads... Indeed I do!! Here's the ones I use- http://www.guitarcenter.com/Monster-Cable-S-100-1-4--Straight---Angled-Instrument-Cable-102469707-i1128536.gc http://www.guitarcenter.com/Monster-Cable-Monster-Rock-1-4--Straight-Instrument-Cable-102640588-i1128575.gc Sound wise I can't really tell a difference between the 2, so if I was going to buy more I'd go with the cheaper. CoreyT
I was going to get the Monster Cables, but at the recommendation of one of the guy's at Guitar Center, I bought three Mogami cables. Still pricy, but from reading reviews on them I decided to give them a try. Mogami Gold Instrument 10R Guitar/Instrument Straight to R/A Ends 10 feet Mogami Gold Instrument 18R Guitar/Instrument Straight to R/A Ends 18 feet And a patch cord too for two pedals. Ryan H
Bullet cables have always been my #1 choice. Built like tanks and reasonably priced. This one should fit your needs, and the 30' variant is Top Rated on GC. Check it out ;) http://www.guitarcenter.com/Bullet-Cable-17--Premium-Vintage-MINI-Coil-Straight-to-Angle-Instrument-Cable-H65627-i1563771.gc
vexorgtr
I've always soldered my own cables. I use ProCo wire and Neutrik Connectors. I like that I can service them if something disasterous happens to them. I think there's too much hoopla about cables. There's really three grades in my mind... Junk, Good, and Overpriced. I can't hear any magic from the fancy cables, so if not for luxury warranty, I don't see the point. SwitchCraft, and Neutrik make good connectors, so I just put some good wire between the two and make some Rock.
CR9
I bought a Lava cable after trying a few Monster cables side by side with a Lava. You can hear the difference. Until that day, I did not think a cable could make a difference in tone but when you think about the electrical specs of wire, it can. Look at the Clear Connect or the Soar series. narm
For cables i suggest Planet Waves American Stage. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Planet-Waves-American-Stage-Instrument/dp/B006MPUTBC For straps, Planet Waves Planet Lock Leather. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Planet-Waves-Leather-Guitar-Strap/dp/B0038O9NLM
