harmonicchaos
i have les paul vintage mahogany. the wood is starting to look dry and i want it to have a low shine to it. what do you guys use to clean/ polish it. i have regular guitar cleaner (dunlop) and it doesn't do anything. i saw a homemade recipie for wood cleaning (1 cup olive oil, 1/2 cup lemon juice) would that work? DoubleSixx
Try this, I love the stuff : Gibson Vintage Reissue Guitar Restoration Kit * Restorative Finish Cream * Premium Fretboard Conditioner * Low-Abrasion Metal Cleaner * 2 polishing cloths You can find it cheap on eBay, around $13 plus $6 on shipping. Use to be more expensive. *Don't forget to check feedback before purchasing* Good luck.
MikeRom
Olive oil and lemon juice? Noooooooooooo! The Gibson kit is good but the Virtuoso product is best at cleaning and shining.
Mark
Lemon oil maybe, but not lemon juice I still think the lemon oil would be greasy and attract dirt Gibson care products is what I use Mark

Geetar_Axl
Is that Vintage Restoration stuff okay to use on regular Gibsons like Fadeds? Is that the only Gibson cleaning product?
MikeRom
Sure is. I've used it on mine with no ill effects and others from the LP forum have also used it on their fadeds. Gives it a bit of a satiney sheen.
