MissouriPicker
Wow! The Ventures were cool. Still are. They're kind of the personification of the instrumental groups. Their music was as big a part of my teen years as anyone's. And they're still around. I think a couple of the sons took the places of their fathers. By far, they were the most successful of the instrumental bands. I remember when I first heard them sing on an album I almost got pissed....lol....I was there for the cool guitar sounds. rocketman
Nokie Edwards is one of the great melodic guitar players ever. The Ventures did so many cool tunes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79v97DcIU98
Dennis G
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljLi_hBLy3A Saw this some months ago on a PBS broadcast and thought it was just soooooo cool. Very neat story. Thx for posting. Loved watching it again, and one of my favorite guitar songs as well.
jaxson50
The Ventures were one of the great rock instrumental bands of all times! So many of us Baby Boomers cut our teeth on that music.
MissouriPicker
They're all over YouTube. Here's a cool golden-oldie of the original members. Catch the lead picker's work. Nokie Edwards is still playing and he's quite-a-guitar-picker. These guys covered all kinds of music and put their own "surf" sound to it. Like Jaxson says, if you were around in the 60's, you definitly knew who The Ventures were. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83uAqm3hAKI
