When you get an amp, I would recommend you get one with reverb as it puts a little halo around the notes and makes it much more enjoyable; most amps, even small ones, have some sort of digital effects these days which would include that. My advice would be to buy yourself a good guitar whcih the amount your talking about would get you a good mid range guitar. You will definately get an itch to buy something better later on and then you should invest in something you will dream about playing and want to pick up every day. Good luck to you !
