BornDead Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 My dream guitar is a Les Paul Custom and I finally found one I may be able to get but I want to make sure its real first. Can anyone take a look at these pictures and help me out on whether or not this is a real or fake LP? Also can anyone help me with things to look for in person as well? I know things on this aren't original (tuners, pickups, coil tap system, etc) http://s1356.beta.photobucket.com/user/damianharmon/library/76%20Les%20Paul%20Custom
pippy Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Hi and welcome to the forum. Yes, it's real. It looks like it comes with its original 'Protector' case, too. Gibson used that type of numbering system - with the model name and 'Made in USA' on a decal - from 1975 and it lasted for three years. The '00' prefix means a 1976 production year. The small '2' under the decal indicates it was a factory 'Second'. These normally had some small finish-flaw which meant they weren't sold at full price. The flaws were never a real problem - it was almost always some minor cosmetic blemish. P.
Jimmikatt Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 it may be real, but whom ever put the tuners on that guitar really got them on there crooked.
rct Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Them switches in it are real. A real shame. Lemme guess, you were born in 1976. Am I right? Whatever the seller wants for it is too much. Good luck with making the right decision. rct
btoth76 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Nevermind those Norlin-haters! Nice guitar, but - I agree - buy it as cheap as possible. Cheers... Bence
BornDead Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 If I get it, it's definitely a good deal for what the guitar is. Just want to make sure I'm getting a real Gibson haha.
