Vince Q
The B string tuner on my '81 Deluxe has a very slight bend in the shaft. Doesn't affect function at all, but I'm picky. Besides replacing it, any suggestions?
Twang Gang
Probably best to replace it. The shaft isn't really long enough to get any leverage on it to straighten it out and even if you could, metal usually never wants to go back exactly where it was before. Vince Q
Figured, but had to ask.
Zentar
Do not try to straighten tuners on your headstock. Use an old cheap guitar to remount it on or use a plank to remount it on. Then get large pliers and grab the button to try to bend the shaft back.
Vince Q
Think I'll look for a replacement. I'm a little heavy-handed, and I can see meeting with disaster in this noble endeavor.
AngelDeVille
Dan Erlewine has a great video on this, I didn't even need a repair but I watched the whole video anyway.
Stevi q
The B string tuner on my '81 Deluxe has a very slight bend in the shaft. Doesn't affect function at all, but I'm picky. Besides replacing it, any suggestions? I TOOK THE 3 on a plate tuners and put them in my vice and straightened them out really nice.If you use pliers then make sure you pad them with something so you don't scratch or nick the shaft.I was so scared I was gonna break them ,that I almost didn't do it.You wanna straighten it out with the least amount of rebending it takes to correct the bend .If it's a single tuner and you can't mount it in a vice then mount it to a piece of wood instead of trying to straighten out the shafts while the tuner is on the guitar.I can't say enough about thinking the whole process through.Hopefully one reverse motion and it's fixed.Good luck ,let us know how it turns out. Vince Q
Ended up buying a new one. For $30, what the heck. I'll keep the old one, straighten it out some time.
