torino74
Hello everybody! I'm new to the forum so please bear with me if i'm asking a stupid question! I just bought a beat up 1964 Epiphone Texan. The guitar didn't come with a case and i desperately want to get it in one before it gets more beat up! I've looked at a couple of Hiscox cases but the measurements didn't seem to match the Texan. Am i right in thinking the Texan is that little bit longer than standard Dreadnoughts? If any of you out there can recommend me a case then i would be very grateful!!! Thanks! That is probably my dream guitar you have there. I recently got the new "Inspired by 64 Texan" which is a revelation. As for cases, you can use the Masterbilt Ultralight case, which is the one the Paul McCartney 64 Texan comes in, but may be hard to get over here, or there is these at Andertons http://www.andertons.co....oughtacousticguitar.asp although they do not appear to have any in until May! Steve. PS you must post photo`s of your 64 Texan guitar, it`s the rules.

el capitan
Ay oop! If the guitar is a bit beaten up,may I recommend a slightly beaten up,older (wooden)case. Guitar should fit any Dreadnought case except one made for a Martin or copy. Phone round or better go round your local music shops that still do p/ex's /still sell used guitars. Good luck! Rob S
Wakefield isn't too far away from my mate's shop/ Have a look at his site and then give him a ring, he does some beautiful cases and is bound to have summat that'll do nicely. http://www.visionguitars.co.uk
dhanners623
Congrats on your acquisition! You have some folks drooling. And yes, post photos. Or, better yet, play the guitar, film it, stick it on YouTube so we can hear it. It is a guitar, after all....
frenchie1281734003
Thanks Steve. How do i add pictures? Put them on photobucket, then at the bottom of each photo, you have a list of about 5 options for linking your pictures, use the second one up from the bottom, to cut & paste for your forum posts. Incidently, if that Texan in your Avatar, is the guitar in question, then I want it!!!!! Steve. PS, looking at your list of guitars (Plus the quote), would I be right in thinking, that you are a bit of a Paul Weller fan? If so, where`s the Casino? torino74
Yes it is my Texan in the photo! You can't see the dings and scratches because my camera is rubbish! Been a Jam/Weller fan since i was about 7 or 8. I had a Korean Casino a few years ago, Natural a la John Lennon but the finish on it was just too shiney. Those guys in the far east can really slap the lacquer on... I see you have a Early 80's MIJ Casino, very nice!

Gibson4life
That is a beautiful Texan you have there. I agree though, that is definantly one of my dream guitars.
Ship of fools
A very nice score with the original bridge just makes it that more appealing, you'll have some that would suggest that you replace that floating adjustable bridge but I say poppycock to them, she is sweet as she is.Ship.............and thats the botom line becasue the ship said so. torino74
a few more pics... The button on the 'A' Tuner has been replaced many years ago. It works fine so it's staying put for a while... Original Adjustable Bridge. Tatty Blue Paper Label. Serial Number matches headstock which is a relief! Kluson Deluxe Tuners. Replacement button is visible. One of the many battle scars... and another! Nasty crack/split on back of headstock. No movement though and it stays in tune perfectly.
frenchie1281734003
Torino, that Texan is lovely, bruised, battered or otherwise. What is the neck width at the top nut? And would I be right in thinking, yours has the plastic bridge? Steve. PS what`s it sound like?

peeper
Eek, you SURE that headstock crack is stable? And the one on the lower bout looks like it went all the way through as well. What did you give for her if I may ask?
torino74
Well, it's obviously not as stable as a headstock without a crack! but i think she'll hang on until i can get somebody to look at her. The other dings are superficial but i'll get those strengthened when i get the headstock sorted. I don't want the guitar restored and to look new. I'm very happy with the way she looks now... as for the price? She was £250[biggrin]
