albian
I bought a black les paul studio 1999 model with golden hardware. All was fine, sound, neck etc. till i found out that its body is 1 cm (one centimeter) thinner, and its dots inlay are smaller as well. Of course I despaired cse someone told MY GIBSON was not a real gibson. I hv checked on gibson site but there´s nothing about if. Is this correct? Anyone knows something about? Could u pls help to find the answer??? Tks ind adv!

MikeRom
What strikes me is the fact that you've measured the thickness of your guitar body. Are you serious? Why would you do such a thing in the first place? What are you comparing it to? Just trying to see the rationael behind it, not trying to dis you - The tops are sanded by hand so it doesn't suprise me, but pictures would be a big help. Try contacting Gibson with the serial number if you still are un-sure about it's authenticity.
albian
I have two friends who hv Gibson Studio. When i played their guitars the sound seems the same but their are more weightful. Brought my gtr n put them side by side n could see my guitar was thinner than the other and therefore lighter. The plate where the plug jack is mounted is not totaly square shaped as the other gibson of different years. Keep in touch I will post some pix. MikeRom
OK, PHEW! It would have never occurred to me to check body thickness but you had good reason after seeing your buddies ax's. Photobucket.com is a free site for storing pics. After uploading your pics paste the img link here.

crossroadsnyc
looking at the headstock, it looks authentic - but the photos of the neck and body (inlays/knobs/etc.) look suspicious to me for some reason. I would suggest calling Gibson customer service and giving them the serial number to just to get a real verification one way or the other. judging by pictures alone, I'd be somewhat concerned. hopefully I'm wrong. Here r my Gibson gtr photo Also not sure about the kidney bean tuners but your best bet is to contact gibson with the serial number. They'll be able to tell you for sure.
