Sgt. Pepper,  you're only kidding about the Beanies, right? My late wife, God rest her soul, collected those (can't use those words here) Beanie Babies for years and every time we would go to a flea market she'd dig around and find a rare limited issue "Beanie" while I'd roll my eyes and groan. Now, I'm stuck with a tractor trailer load and I have no practical use for them. Ok, maybe not a tractor trailer load, but for me, even one is too many. How can I unload them and use the proceeds for a Gibson ESS 335?  Chicago Music Exchange requoted me $4.5K for their custom shop red 335 model plus taxes and shipping which would still pushes it over $5K and result in too many nights of eating Ramen noodles. Couldn't someone accidentally put an inconspicous scratch on the underside of the neck to bring it into my price range? Anyhow, I'm patient...I waited 31 years to sell my Texas home,  50 years to trade in my SG, so what's another decade or two to wait for my ES 335?  I'm only 73 and surely I'll be spry enough to shred when I'm Willie Nelson's age, right?

Yes. Stupidest thing ever. Your gonna get rich from a McDonalds happy meal toy? You’re kidding me right? Some thought they would. Nope.

A very cool video, and some really nice guitar playing.

    Thank you for that, Bottier.

Have you made a video of how one plays a Fender?

    😃

I played my Fender’s when I owned them with my hands, what do you use Sparky? I hope that was the correct way.

On this saddest of days when the world says goodbye to legendary artist, Dickey Betts, media sources announced a sale of Guess Who guitarist Randy Bachman's guitar collection:  https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/over-200-randy-bachmans-iconic-140049929.html   included in his top tier collection is a '59 Les Paul Randy played while recording some of his greatest hits. Estimates for that holy grail of Gibson's are in the $200,000-400,000 range but that is just a guestimate...in actuality,  the price could go far higher at the New York Hard Rock Cafe auction. I hope the LP goes to someone who will play it frequently and not stash it in a vault somewhere never to be played again.  If I had a time machine, I would go back to early 1959 and demand that Gibson triple their production of LP's but alas, all we have are those that have survived. They are almost in the same league as Stradivarius Violins and someday could be.

Yeah we all would love to go back and snap up LP’s. Damn if only kept all those Beanie Babies I’d buy myself an island in the Caribbean with the profits.

What is a 2015 LP gonna be worth in 2065? Buy them all now and find out when it’s New Year’s Day 2065.

2015 was a weird year for Gibson. Hey can someone get  my 3 year old scribble on the headstock, the guitar players are gonna eat it up.

That doesn’t seem to be right.

Once you post the link, I put the cursor at the end of it and hit enter and the picture pops up,

If it’s a pic of a black dog, then that is your link.

Well exactly.. Looked what happened to Brian Johnson. Forced to quit AC/DC despite the fact they had a tour coming. He was told if he went back out on stage he would probably go deaf. No one wants that.

The only reason he came back was because someone invented some new in ear technology to stop these issues.

No one wanted Axl Pose either.

Just looked AC/DC are touring. I guess it’s deafness for him.

Nope, never played one until now.   Actually, I've been playing mostly 12-strings for the past couple years.  Not sure why I succumbed to this purchase.... other than nostalgia and sucked in to a pretty good deal.  And it's a gorgeous guitar, of course.  But it's hard to put down my 12-strings....

    Gibson -> Hammer!

    Fender ->  Not a Hammer!

I thought they were guitars or more correctly guitar makers? I wouldn’t doubt Henry J thought about buying a hardware store, he had 18 other stupid  things he tried to sell. Now it’s $700 leather duffel bags.

plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

I thought Slash's lead work was better in GNR. I think a better solo could have been laid down... something with a little more phrasing. Sounds a bit plucky is some areas.

I seriously never heard the entire AFD album till about 2007 or so. I heard Jungle, Sweet Child and Paradise City so much when it came out I was sick of them.

Currently learning "Blackbird" by that British Invasion group from Liverpool.

It is my present assignment from my music teacher, and the most difficult part (aside from his insisted upon fingering positions) is my badly torn left Rotator Cuff which makes just holding a guitar very painful.

To try and mitigate the discomfort, I'm using my smallest body, a 12-fret Washburn  Parlour, instead of my Martin & Gibson Dreadnoughts, or Guild Jumbo. Still hurts like hell, but a boy's gotta do what a boy's gotta do.

I learned it then forgot it. I’m almost to where I can do the foot tapping again. 1, 2 3 , damn it start over.

Well the j- 50 is mine now. Excellent shape .

It is branded promotional not for sale .

    Any thoughts on this.

      Thanks Posey

I’ve heard of a 2 or Second on the back of the head, but never promo.

  12. I think the ES-335 and others 345, 355 and BB King are the best designs and guitars Gibson ever did. SG’s are thin and light and rock machines. LP’s are what everyone wants and there is a reason. An Explorer is one of the most well balanced guitars ever. F and G changed the rock world. Those two are the most played if we are talking electric guitars.

So I need help with my decision. I understand for 59 custom I’ll be paying about $7000 and that the supreme is about $4000. I understand they have different Alnico pick ups. Not sure I want a guitar that is aged. Even Mr Murphy said it will continue to age fast compared to New guitars. I’m really confused. So can anyone help with my decision

Yeah, buy a new guitar and relic it the old fashioned way, by playing it and bumping into stuff.

    Your Welcome

I like the tone of a good mahogany top. I have two and just sold another one last week.

The Martin 000 15 CS was real nice looking and sounding but like Johnson, I didn't care for the neck.

The other two are Gibson's. One is a '42 LG1 like Tom B and John T have. The other is a newer L00 Genuine Mahogany (actual model name). If you were a righty, I'd loan you one.

What neck was on it? The V necks I do not jive with from M. My HD-28V had one. I like the modern low oval ones.
