  1. A surprise call from good friends saw us having tea at a club in town. The meals there are good and a reasonable price. I had the house burger and wedges. It was great but I couldn't finish it! Company was excellent!
  2. Goodness me, chicken sweet & sour with fried rice seems very mundane after all those exotic meals, but it was nice!
  3. To paraphrase a notorious Australian politician, please explain??? "we had steak baked taters baked beaks" Last night we had stuffed lamb chops, baked potatoes and peas and carrots. It was lovely!
  4. Left over Shepherds pie for lunch and we went to the RSL for tea and I had a nice butterflied chicken breast with chips and salad. Smothered in mushroom gravy which is my fav. Then I did something totally uncharacteristic, I had an ice cream sundae with caramel topping and crushed nuts! Yum! It was two for one night where you got two main meals, in our case for $22, for both. This could become a regular Thursday night occurrence I think.
  5. Sounds amazing! Thanks for the photos and now I'm thinking we might head to China next year as it looks fascinating!
  6. And you spent all that money on a new kitchen Butch!! Grin~ Last night we had shepherds pie and there were so many veggies in it we just had bread and butter as an accompaniment. Very nice and left overs today. I'm starting to get excited about a small cruise we are taking next month and made the mistake of you tubing some of the cruise ship menus and buffets. Had food on my mind all day yesterday...Grin~
  7. Reheated Sunday roast lamb from left overs. Not easy to reheat meat without it tasting so, but Mrs Dig warms the meat slowly in her killer gravy. Almost better the second time around, and certainly helped by the weather allowing us to eat outside at night for the first time in months.
  8. I did a big lamb roast in our wood oven for lunch yesterday and all the yummy roast vegetables that go with such a meal. Because it was a big piece of meat requiring 2 1/2 hours cooking time, I had to load the firebox right up and that made for some difficulty controlling the heat but in the end it was lovely. We had 2 couples here and enjoyed their company on a gorgeous Spring day with acoustic blues playing in the background. It doesn't get much better and is the first of many occasions outside with friends and nice food. For tea all I had was a couple of crunchy peanut butter sandwiches and a couple of left over chocolates.
  9. Took my best girl out for Chinese in town tonight....no reason other than we felt like it! We had one entree each, mine being Chinese sausage which was yummy. Gael had a spring roll. Then we shared mongolian lamb on a sizzle platter and BBQ pork & cashew nuts with special fried rice. That was a lot of food! No room for an ice cream sundae unfortunately.
  10. Toasted sander for lunch and an apple. Tonight its crumbed lamb cutlets and veggies.
  11. Last night it was chicken mignons with small square cut pieces of roast potato, peas, carrots & corn. YUM!
  12. Gael had a busy day with meetings all day and was worn out when she got home so I did tea. Made a couple of family size beef, bacon & onion pies. Had a nice mix of veggies and yes it was lovely. Best part is we have a few more meals when we don't feel like cooking, so into the freezer the left over pies go!
  13. Sadly I seem to have poisoned our two fig trees! That and 4/6 citrus trees in my citrus bed. (I have other citrus in another orchard) I must have been spraying weeds under them with roundup and there must have been one stray bit of spray going off to the side. It's taking a couple of years to kill them, but kill them I have. I'll cut them out next year and replant. However, figs are nice!
  14. At the risk of repeating ourselves we had a lamb roast last night again. It was magnificent! One of our supermarkets has small pieces of lamb in cryovac packaging and I think that must do something like hanging it for longer, because it's as tender as all get-out! Most other lamb we buy is hit and miss, some being like old boots, but this has been great every time! Veggies roasted to perfection and the bonus is that Bella has a lovely bone waiting for her today!
  15. Last night we had gummy shark or as it's known locally as "Flake". I crumbed it and shallow fried in a small amount of olive oil until it was golden brown. Accompanying we had oven baked chips and a lovely cole slaw. The chips were home made. It's always a meal we enjoy very much!
  16. A good friend fabricated and welded some replacement brackets on my boat trailer for me as a favour and wouldn't take payment so we took them out to tea last night (burp). I had chicken mignon. beer battered chips and salad. I seldom have dessert but gave in and had an ice cream sunday with caramel topping....Yummo!
  17. Sooooo jealous! We trying a short cruise next month and if we like it we will do one next year to Asia with Hong Kong being the main place we'd like to visit. Did you get a recommendation as to where to eat, or just try pot luck?
  18. On an impulse we went to a local pub for tea last night, hear that it had improved under new ownership! I had a massive Chicken Parmiagana (More like an Emu, do chooks even grow that big?) and Gael had Veal Scallopini that she raved about. We'll be back!
  19. Topside beef pot roasted with bacon & onions, roast veggies and Gael's killer gravy. You couldn't buy a better meal!
