  1. Roast chook from the supermarket, oven fries and corn on the cob. We had to take Bella to Gael's sisters place for a couple of days so we can head up to Melbourne today to visit our son Chris who had a heart attack earlier this week, and were too tired to do any fancy cooking when we got home. I had a Nashi fresh off our tree afterwards, it was the best part...so sweet and juicy.
  2. We had a beautiful porterhouse steak BBQ'd last night. Bought it back from Mallacoota, the small holiday spot we've just had a week at. We can't get good steak like that locally but can get it from a small butcher in a town of say 400 residents. I usually buy up and bring some home for the freezer. It just melts in your mouth! Yummo!
  3. Fish that Stu & I caught crumbed for tea. Yummy!
  4. I made some chicken rolls, thin sliced, beaten chicken fillet with a block of tasty cheese and wrapped in bacon, enough for 6 people. It was pouring so the BBQ was out, so I cooked in the caravan. Oven baked spuds, corn and some rats arse (rattatoule) made a nice feed and the comments were favourable.
  5. Impromptu pub meal with friends while we are away down the coast enjoying good times and great company. Wet as heck outside so spent the afternoon cuddled up on the bed with our Border Collie in the middle.
  6. Mixed grill at the local club in town. Must be a new cook....Meh~
  7. Too right Cobber, you sound like a "Dinky Di". My "slabs" these days are one non alcoholic beer per night, and that's mainly because an Aussie around the BBQ has to have a "frothy". A+ Last night we went to the RSL with two other couples, the food as so-so but the company was great! I had chicken breast with mushroom gravy which came with beer battered chips and salad. As I said, it was so-so! But then it was a 2 for 1 night so cost us about $24 for two meals, in fact the girl's wine would have cost more! I maxed out on the chocolate machine again so it was choccies for dessert~
  8. We had a BBQ again and I'm still scratching where the mosquitos have bitten me...chuckle~ Lamb chops and an assortment of veggies and the chops were terrific (due to the cooking no doubt). Sat out until after dark (8.15'ish)
  9. I crumbed and cooked some school whiting fillets on the BBQ last night! Hard to cook them that way as you need to have the plate hot enough to brown the crumbs but it's really easy to overcook thin and small fillets like that. Fortunately I seem to have nailed it and they were moist and succulent. Chips baked in the BBQ and a nice cole slaw and all was right with the world! Bella had fun too running off around the paddocks chasing bunnies! She was exhausted and asked to be put to bed!
  10. We felt lazy last night so we ent into town to the bowling Club for tea (lawn bowls) We both had a stuffed chicken breast with heaps of veggies and salads from a help yourself buffet. Very nice too! It was lovely looking out at the bowling rink with the sun lowering to the west and watching people bowling. It must have been a family night as there were couple and kids everywhere having a great time.
  11. I had a couple of chicken breast fillets that I sliced thin and pounded even thinner. Then I put a block of tasty cheese in the centre and rolled it up, then I wrapped the whole roll in bacon. Quick to cook on the BBQ and very tasty. Might experiment with a light gravy with say a slight taste of apricot and some mustard? 4 left over to slice for sandwiched today.
  12. Sort of a combo BBQ last night as Mrs Dig did a piece of beef pot-roasted on the hotplate with onions and bacon. I did roast veggies in the BBQ and we ate outside on a perfect evening. The meat fell apart and the veggies turned out just right, but the hero was my wife's mushroom gravy (to die for) as usual. I (cough) overfilled my plate somewhat~
  13. Sausages eggs & chips on the BBQ...not bad at all!
  14. Need to get a mortgage on the house here to buy a descent ribeye! Last night we cooked outside (surprise! surprise!) and we had some Chicken Mississippi rolls prepared by our butcher. We usually have fried rice with these but cooking them outside, we just had potatoes silverbeet, carrots and corn on the cob. It ended up being much nicer than cooking it inside in the oven. Yummy in fact!
  15. Potato chips as you call them are described as crisps here most often, or chips too which is confusing I realise, but quite often fries here are referred to as hot chips. Whatever you want to call them, both are nice!
  16. Chuckle...we don't have "fries" here mate, we have chips. The eggs were fried but still runny...making me hungry all over again!! The only times I've been in Mc Donald I've had an argument with the staff over saying fries. "mate we have chips in Australia, not bloody fries!"
  17. We were both too tired for much of a cook-up last night so we had chips & eggs. Two golden yolks broken over a pile of chips with tomato sauce smothering it....Yum!
  18. "10 Piece bucket, 10 hot wings, large fry, gigantic gravy." You couldn't eat that all on your own could you? I'd be doing about 3 pieces maybe 4...max! Of all the crap you guys have sent over here KFC is the only one I'll eat, and even then it might be 2 or 3 times a year. So it was a lovely night last night so I cooked a lamb roast & veggies outside in the wood oven, we sat out and ate. Pretty tough life we Aussies have~
  19. Gael makes a mean egg & lettuce sandwich too Butch and it's her mayonnaise that makes it special. People ring up out of the blue for her recipe! Tonight we had Chicken Kiev and potatoes and fresh corn cobs. Corn is down to 90c an ear and will be fresh & plentiful for months to come now....Yum!
  20. What full of white letters with numbers on them?? Grin~
  21. Some places apparently, but I dont know where. https://www.amazon.com/Vegemite-Bcool-burn-00396-220-gram/dp/B004AVEW8G
  22. Some places apparently, but I dont know where.
  23. Conversation, coffee and home made bread...what a great combination! Now all you need is some Vegemite~
  24. Last night was a repeat of post 1127, being a large chunk of eye fillet steak BBQ'd and a nice mix of veggies. Gael's killer mushroom gravy of course!
