    Hair?

I suppose real hair and a one off hand made custom spec guitar are both irreplaceable....can't get them off a rack!😵

I'm thinking an all mahogany including top in exactly the same shape and neck as my current Cargill for a spare Cargill...and gloss black 'cos I get bored with the mahogany brown look. Hmmm. Just needs money and a phone call...hmmm......

We’ve heard you play!  Definitely do not give him your guitar.......lol......Seriously though, I understand what you’re saying.  This guy is certainly a good picker (and so are you)....Several years ago I sat about four feet from Marty Stuart at a picnic table.  Just watching him move effortlessly all over the guitar neck made me wonder what the hell I was doing when I played...... Just use guys like this as inspiration.

    Thanks MP!

I wasn't really going to give him my guitar - he already has one! He may not even want mine - it has my own custom features like a big wide neck and spacing similar to Martin Mod Vs....no, we played it for 2 practice sessions yesterday...acoustically at lunchtime and plugged after work when the weirdos next door play gangster rap really, really loud.

So now I am thinking I need another Cargill ...in case something happens to this one![biggrin]

Local guy Geoff Achison playing some acoustic blues on his Cargill Custom Guitar.

I have my sensational Cargill, my "Black Pearl", nothing like a handmade guitar!

After listening to Geoff play, I might as well give it to him!

Typical answer I would expect from a troll. Try bullying someone else. Your playing is okay but I cannot stand your singing. Don't quit your day job. I usually don't give advise but since you felt free to give me a couple suggestions, here a couple for you. Find a forum that appreciates your style of playing and singing and start posting on their performance forums. Even this GIBSON forum has a few performance forums for those who wish to post themselves. Don't get me wrong, we all go off course now and then and mention other guitars, but you take it to a new level. Find yourself a Maton forum. I'm sure they're fine guitars but this is the Gibson Acoustic  forum. Find yourself a Waterloo forum, I'm sure they're fine guitars but this is a Gibson Acoustic forum.  You seem to have a very high opinion of your talents. Do they have a Star Search or similar show in Oz land that you can try out? Your constant attacking of anyone that doesn't agree with you with your ' put up a video or shut up' is getting old. I don't perform, I don't put up videos, I don't profess to be a guitar virtuous or a great singer and I haven't heard one thing I like from you. Your constant posting of 'Warning! Non Gibson'  is getting old. I'm sorry you got your feathers ruffled with my comment but I just love someone who very seldom if ever buys a new Gibson (this is their forum) product but always have to chime in. It's a free forum and you can say whatever you want (and you do) but you shouldn't get all bent out of shape when you're called out. Now that you've 'called me out' in front of the whole world and humiliated me by attacking my talents (or lack of) I will go and watch Jeopardy and finish my bologna sandwich.  Have a good day BK. I wish you the best.

Well, it is Wednesday evening here, just finished my second practice session for the day and I log in to see the mouth Dave still has no recordings posted......perhaps he has taken a long look at himself and  realised how rude he was to me in the post above, especially as now he doesn’t want to play along....and is desperately trying to work out how to play B7 on all those guitars he buys to.....polish?

Maybe join the knitting forum and try to be sherriff there!

  5. And people who put smiley faces on everything without their name, well, it is sadly pathetic.

If you haven’t put everything you have into playing guitar, you may as well find  some local hardworking buskers and give your gear to them. Go join the furniture polishing forum too!

Well, well, as I was finishing about an hour of guitar practice, for the second time today.....at lunchtime and after work, I thought I might see a recording of your guitar playing.......easy, just turn your phone on and play your hardest. I mean, you have plenty to say to me above and at least I should get the chance to hear your playing. Or perhaps you are buying all these guitars and can’t play a lick. What do you do, look at them all and polish them? There is a name for people like that, but perhaps you would be better to join a furniture polishing forum or something? There should be a little test you do before they sell you a nice guitar......leave the nice guitars for people that have put the time and work in.....fail the test and you get the new $200 guitar.....

  7. I posted this on AGF and often post it here as well while I am at it.

FYI: a number of years ago, the moderators decided we could post other guitar makes - in the interest of free speech, comparison purposes, discussion .etc. - we have to put "Warning: ...........fill in guitar here....Content!" in the heading.....so sensitive types don't have to look/hear.

This small body deep body 00 size guitar - 'shop custom order' black finish is still in the factory setup as it came out of the box a couple of years ago when I was first at the shop to try it. This guitar is 'sorted' and a road warrior. The pickup system with dual source is just fabulous.

Similar to the recording I did on my CEO7 to Tonedexter the other week, here is my Maton custom black finish EBG808 (a deep body 00) through the onboard pickup system run to Tonedexter file > mixer > iMac. The onboard system is dual source but today I turned the mic off and used the Tonedexter sound file as there is a lot of noise going on - stormy wind, warm and humid, floor fan on and facing me, blowdryer going somewhere in the house, lawn mowing outside...etc..etc... all that! And not picked up by the plugged in sound I have! Could be handy if I ever got to play in a noisy bar again! ( I used to play in a bar that sold 40 types of bourbon or such and the crowd started out quiet..........biggrin.gif)

    So, some blues fingerpicking :

I like the sound through a mixer, myself - more 'full range'. Try it all and get the sound you want.

I have many options but I have the Tonedexter preamp (like an Fishman Aura sound but you can make your own sounds with your mic to give the sound of a guitar through a mic) - so if if I run a mono guitar lead from the K&K Trinity, it won't have the mic and I can use just the K&K part of the pickup with a Tonedexter file - has DI, some EQ etc and Feedback control!

If I want to play with the Trinity mic, I use a stereo cable to enable the mic and switch Tonedexter to BYPASS. (To mixer etc). Very handy and more options!

I will... Krasi swears by 'em...and he plays out a lot (at least he used to).   I figured about the feedback from the mic....but I mostly play in my music room..... I was planning of piping it through the Princeton Amp in there...you think it'll be better through the PA system?

Rob, I think I remember you bringing that  Jubilee to Ol' Fred's gathering  at Neversweat back in 2013. Seems like a lifetime ago.

Yes... I brought it there...and also the Dove..... with the addition of the J-50, the Dove stays at home now.    I'm putting electronics on the J-50 now.

Talked with Krasi and he swears by the K&K Trinity system.   I have the pickups and mic...waiting for the preamp.

If I like it, I'll install a system on the Dove.

The 12-string already has a pickup....and I won't touch the DIF or 'Bird.

I have some different versions of the K&K Trinity in 5 guitars now!

It is great but to use the mic will cause feedback in a loud session. I run to my mixer and use in ears or headphones and I can have the mic on full! I prefer the sound in the mixer/PA type sound instead of an amp.

Let us know how you get on. It is a great sound with the internal mic - took a while to get the preamp gain settings correct. I ended up with the preamp gain right down and the volume controls on full!

I will inform Gibson that you are out of the new Gibson guitar market. I’m sure that will just crush them. I don’t know if they can survive a blow like this. You being a loyal Gibson supporter and often buying new guitars from them. They may have to cancel the new Montana expansion.

Instead of shooting your mouth off all over the forum, why don't you do something constructive and record yourself playing your guitars so we can all hear them?

So can someone tell me what we are getting for $2000 more bucks than the LG2 50s style? A toasted Adi top? Anything else? Make out you are explaining to your wife/partner...

I don't want one - I have a 59 LG3 with 1 11/16" nut - just interested why the price difference....though I am the small guitar buff! Could be swayed one day by a used.....

Just an opinion but one of my all-time favorite LG2s was a 1944 maple body version.  If the stars had aligned properly it would be sitting here with me right now.  But I have also always been comfortable with Banner necks.  Then again, I cut my teeth on 1930s Kay Krafts, Oscar Schmidts and such.

And I have never known anybody here to get their knickers in a twist when somebody wants to talk about a guitar with something other than Gibson on the headstock.  Waterloos in particular pay more than a passing nod to Gibsons out of past catalogs.  As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  Ok Taylors may be pushing it a bit.

ZW, there is 44 Maple LG2 Banner for sale on Reverb.com at Kansas City Vintage Guitars......

    Put your helmet on!
