  1. No way man, you just made that up!!
  2. What ever you got you earned it Andy! I often wonder nowadays how the pubs and clubs make enough over the bar to justify having bands (it's not like the poker machine players are going to spend any more than they already waste) - maybe we are an oblivious group of tax write-offs or money laundering agents for them? +1 for Bad Penny.
  3. +1 mate. I reckon (sincerely- I'm not being a smartarse) that you HAVE to be pretty good to play that slow. I'd not be keen to try it - with hard and fast the screw ups are just a blur, at that speed even a minor glitch is going to risk starting an implosion. Kudos and happy new year to you too - have a great '18!
  4. I reckon the mods do a pretty good job here and don't need people suggesting they should consider banning people or closing down threads. Plenty in this one I find tiresome and childish, but that'd be the case in any random group of people having a discussion where opinions and biases are in play I guess. Lots (to put it mildly) of threads about puppies, houseplants, grandchildren, breakfasts etc on the Gibson or Epi lounges for those looking for less volatile subject matter. Hey - there's something for everyone on the Gibson boards! I am not into PRS from a styling point of view, but I'm sure they are well made and will please many owners.
  5. Not to mention the East African situation.
  6. Well, you could always go back and revisit last week's effort Gibson has serious quality control issues again, and reminisce I hand it to the dude - he's one of the best at what he does. (And no, it ain't me - I have just the one, albeit stupid, unchanged profile).
  7. and so, in angling parlance, Mr Mutt once again proves to be a 'master baiter', just as surely as the road from Umbrage to High Dudgeon runs through the scenic villages of southern England... ...and all is well in the world.
  8. 'Like us on Facebook' is the 21st Century version of 'throw money!' Good job mate - it's the 'gig from hell' stories that make for the most fun over a beer years later hey. (that and the 'Bass player wore short pants and white tennis socks' stories)
  9. Multi-band bill, no sound check to speak of and not without its issues (like no one being able to hear anyone else well on stage - though the front of house apparently rocked!) . Great things were having a best mate of 30 years play drums for his first ever gig, a good mate on bass rockin out, and having my 17 yo nephew play lead guitar with us,... and to sing and play on songs I wrote in front of my own teenage kids ...priceless. Don't know if we'll get to play again, but for now...job done!
  10. Not bad, but just make it like the original ones from mid 6o's (batwing headstock shape, nickel and rosewood fittings, binding, etc). Oh, and make it a Deniz Tek signature model!
  11. Looks great guys - John (M): stage looks small but I guess its all comparative, a dressing room that's awesome!, Jay : looks like a cool setup with everything mic'd and some sweet guitars waiting, John (S): man, that looks so 'all-American' to a foreigner like me I just love it! (I assume the band voted that you should not wear short pants). Great stuff guys - Rock on!
  12. cool rider! (Assuming you didn't drag with you from home)

Five years of working up to writing a post and....
  14. Next to nothing I said "enough!!" a couple of weeks back and am on the Gandhi/IRA diet. 195 down to 175 so far and I have 165 in my sights!!!
  15. I mainly agree with you Philip, but not this time - selective quotes, idiocy (!) based on number of posts (I won't go there)?, scum of the Earth? Every summer here we are bombarded with ads flogging hand-signed cricket bats mounted in display cases commemorating someone doing something in the field of cricket...people buy these with the intent to display as a conversation/trophy piece and/or hope to make money reselling in the future, not to get it out and go and have a hit in the back yard with the kids. Wouldn't that happen even in photography too, or are special signed limited edition runs to be stuck in an album. I don't know what these are but it sounds like they were the equivalent? Did Gibson and Les (RIP) just decide it might be good for him to practice his handwriting or was this about making money. Sorry mate. PS like Cap I actually wouldn't have thought these would be that much of a collectable in any case, but who knows?
  16. Quite frankly one of the most captivating voices I've heard in a while, especially once you got into it after a minute or so. I don't know that song but please do more! Again - exceptionally interesting voice - almost haunting - I'd have sworn you were using voice effects at times, if you don't currently get singing lessons I'd do so, not because you need them but because you might just find with some expert tips you can really take it somewhere.
  17. Cool neighbours! and...at least you know what to ask for for Xmas Rock on!
  18. mine would be Sway - Mick cutting loose on vox in the last verse and the outro solo is one of my favourite solos EVER (geez that boy had phrasing)!
  19. Nice one Jay, congrats on the fine gigs! Already Sunday evening here, but had a good musical day and night yesterday - the new band playing my originals had our first hit out in front of real live people yesterday afternoon along with a similar splinter group from my old covers band and various mates out at a peaceful house on a commune in the rainforest. We each cranked up the amps and played our sets, such as they are, and cheered each other on, then the covers band got up and had a jam. Got a bit messy as it doubled as a christening of the latest batch of excellent home brew beer of one of the guys (though less so me as a designated driver for the evening festivities to follow...). We all agreed to make it a regular thing to help get our acts up to gig-ready. Then a bunch of us headed out to an old farmhouse venue nearer town for a night of loads of local rock - mainly all kinds of 'punk' I guess - pretty diverse within that though. Dropped a couple of blokes off round midnight, I'm buzzing from playing and watching loud music for the past 10-12 hours and too much nicotine in lieu of alcohol. Couple of bourbons and a listen to Dinosaur Jr playing a concert somewhere in Europe on Youtube to relax. A good day.
  20. Hey there Dig, glad you and Stu had a good time (better than the fish's ). Sitting at Heathrow waiting for the boarding call and drinking some fine Californian Red (I am gonna sleep on this flight if I gotta pass out!!!) - should hit Sydney on Friday morning, but if QF2 goes down, give my regards to the Gibson lounge crew!
