  1. Personally I track my wife's movements on the Visa card.
  2. Cheers ME. Some very loud original alternate rock is a great way to welcome winter. Three other bands to watch too. ...our bass player is a Portsmouth lad btw.
  3. My first gig for the year tomorrow night....only took til June been drinking so much citrus juice trying to ward off a cold this week, seems to be working, fingers crossed! Rock 'n'f'n' Roll !
  4. The Gibson Forum horse bolted years ago, but points for trying in any case.
  5. In USD it would be $19.50 at my barber, but there are $12-15 places. We do not have a tipping culture at all in Oz (we have high minimum wages compared with everywhere else instead)
  6. ...and I thought y'all'd'nt've noticed it.
  7. Yup. Spotted em a while back not far off Guam. I'd've said they seemed happy enough.
  8. Well, we just did what seemed natural to us...perhaps the English indulged in toothpick flipping but no one noticed?

    The darling buds of May.
  10. The one I saw was a 1990 - first year I believe - and I don't recall the inlays being green, they might have changed them a bit later on? Thing looked more like a genuine vintage LP guitar (well gigged) than any 'modern' releases I've seen since, and I'm not sure it was even trying to that much. Think I'm going to start watching for one. Sorry to go slightly off topic and thanks for the info gents.
  11. If that's the one I saw one on eBay a while back and wanted it bad...it got snapped up by someone though. I'll keep an eye out - I only want one LP and that thing really appealed to me.
  12. They put one out in the early nineties (I think) with 1960 engraved on the guard. It was a beauty - maybe the LP for me? Can't recall what it was called though.
  13. Just having a look at the range for the first time - looks good. Prices much more reasonable. Range of LPs could stand some trimming and will probably get it as stuff is phased out. Probably should have at least one Firebird on offer. but yeah, pretty good though!
  14. Maybe someone at CS had a wicked sense of humour
  15. I have a 1961 double-cut that's had a fairly tough life but has the original Pots and pickup (it's the single pickup model). On the plus side - super light weight so easy on the shoulder, made by the same people who were building SGs at the time from the same wood that people rave about these days, nitro finish etc, and I guess it's a talking piece and a bit punk...and it was very cheap. On the minus side - pickup is kind of feeble and not too pleasant, though roll off the tone and it does a reasonable acoustic impression, and I really don't like the neck into body joint at all (see pic posted earlier in the thread). It neck dived with the heavy tuners that were on it when I got it but back to original lightweight buttons and that was cured. Not a bad thing, especially for the money...and I guess it gets me in the Gibson 'club', but it's no LP Jr. PS..they were made in a 3/4 early on as an option but I'd suggest a big majority sold were full sized. PPS.. the Epiphone Olympic Special was basically exactly the same guitar in quality and look.
  16. If my band came visited your music room it'd look like a smoke filled, beer bottle infested brothel within an hour Very nice Sparky, very different and very mature!
  17. Some Teisco or something from the 60's bought in the late 80's with a very low watt valve amp in a cardboard 'tweed' shell. Wish I still had the amp for curiosity sake, the guitar was horrible. Bought my 1984 Aria Pro ll RS second hand in around 89 and it's been there ever since. I'll be using it today and it remains my main guitar, which unfortunately means the old 60's Gibson and Epiphone live in their cases. - at least they aren't going to get damaged.
  18. Awesome night at the local pub with 3 local bands playing a 60 min set each of original alternate rock. Went on last at 10pm and played like we owned the joint, and the crowd responded. Even got paid which is unusual for bands not doing covers. Very satisfying gig! A bit of reheated pasta leftovers and a shot or two of the good stuff and off to bed.
  19. Not sure where the sacrilege idea comes from - electric guitars have gone way more tech then tuners - the 'bleeding obvious' answer would be that acoustic guitars (even those with pickups) would be anticipated to spend much of their time being played acoustically - ie in the absence of amps, leads and obvious opportunities (or desire) to have a tuning pedal....campfires, religious and social gatherings, sitting under a tree songwriting or whatever. Electrics are intended to be played through amps most of the time so easy to insert pedal (especially one that mutes the signal) etc....or maybe I'm missing something?
  20. Where does Gibson stand on this? - cos then the buyer of this 'new Gibson' goes on line telling the world how his new Gibson is crap as it cannot be tuned, starts to delaminate, sounds muffled...and how CQ has gone to hell etc..
