Very nice. I have a Light Burst LP Classic. Plain top, so no flame. But a great color/finish.

While I was working, we had quarterly qualifications and I would usually go the range at least once between qualifications. So about 8-10 times a year. Since I was always stationed in warm weather climates, most qualifications were at outdoor ranges. Practice sessions were both outdoors and indoors. I used electronic muffs about the last 20 years to hear the commands of the range officer. I still use electronic muffs for my annual LEOSA qualification to hear the commands or when I take my grandson or granddaughter to the range so we can hear one another. I’m seriously considering using the muffs (turned off) along with ear plugs during those times when I am by myself and don’t need to hear/converse with others. The last time I took my grandson (17 years old) to the indoor range, I took my Glock 26 (9mm), Sig P220 (.45) and S&W Model 66 (.357 magnum) so that he could experience a broad range of calibers and handguns. I went easy on him, using mostly target ammo. But I told him he will need to put his “big boy pants” on next time because I would be bringing some hot ammo, some of which is only available to LE personnel. I don’t think he will have any problems though. Believe it or not, there was a time back in the ‘70s when some federal agencies didn’t use any hearing protection whatsoever. I have some friends who had serious hearing problems while they were still on the job. Most, if not all, people on the job during the period before hearing protection received some sizable compensation for their hearing loss.

Not to worry. At the same time, I was also a Houston Oilers fan for many years. And remembering the old AFL, I used to enjoy the Raiders vs Chiefs games. No punches pulled. I watched and remembered the game where Ben Davidson speared Len Dawson. Quite a scene at the time. After watching the Chief defeat the Viqueens in their (Viqueens) first Super Bowl, I automatically pulled for the Raiders. Then the Raiders squashed the Viqueens, so I felt compelled to remain neutral in the rivalry.

I’m amazed how easily your hearing can be damaged. I had a friend from the Left Coast that I hadn’t seen in years visit me a couple of weeks ago. He showed off his shiny new hearing aids. He had been a firearms instructor/range officer for many years, including mine for the last 3 years before I retired. I thought it strange since he had always used both ear plugs and ear muffs at the same time. But he spent so much time shooting or being around others shooting, it still severely damaged his hearing. I guess I will have to be more vigilant about monitoring my hearing in the future.

Growing up in the Twin Cities and being a Viqueens fan for many years, the two words that had me sobbing in my beer were: Super Bowl.

Well, I never stuck with it long enough when I was young to spend much time learning songs. So I can’t really make a comparison between then and now. It probably does take me longer to learn songs nowadays than it does an average person. Some things I learn relatively quickly, other things seem to take forever.

Another clear indicator that “Bidenomics” is working to control inflation. All kidding aside, I’m glad I have all the Gibsons I want at the moment. Any other models I’m interested in have been discontinued so I’d have to buy used.
