$1500+ tax for an SG Standard and you do not get a hard shell case......that is just sooo wrong !
Some people would call it a crime. There is a bit of a difference between a gig bag and a "soft shell case" which Gibson says comes with this Standard, but it's still just wrong!

I also noticed that most have the small pick guard - that's the look I like.

Me too, I'm become fond of the one without the pick guard. You will not hear me say that about a Les Paul though.

Maybe #0000 steel wool would help. Then a good polish...

Herta are OK so it's hardly a disaster and what we usually do with them is wrap them in puff pastry to turn them into a frankfurter-based sausage-roll. Great for our daughter's school lunch box and perfect, when sliced into 2" sections, for snacking on when her friends come around our place.
Here's what we get over in UK-land;
Pip.
Ha!! Ha!!! 😂😂
How much did Herta pay you for this commercial advertisement?

I know that new USA Gibson smell... I like it. I have to say that one day when I gave my kid a Honey Maid graham cracker, it seemed to oddly enough remind me of the smell of a new USA Gibson. I mean, my 2018 LP Classic had the smell we are talking about, and if I put on a blindfold and you asked me to smell both - the LP Classic and the graham cracker - I might have a difficult time discerning the 2 apart. I know, I'm crazy, haha! So if you want that new Gibson smell, start putting Honey Maid graham crackers in your cases along side your guitar 🙂 May get a little crumby in there, but hey, it smells good...
I find it to be a very pleasant smell as well, I just can't compare it with anything like vanilla or graham crackers, I will agree it is sweet smelling. You know how they have that spray of "New Car Smell" to refresh the car interior? Someone needs to come out with a spray called "New Gibson Case Smell"

make it up to a Texas Rangers game at Globe Life Park in Arlington, and I am with someone who is also really hungry, this certainly hits the spot:
I would see some serious "ring sting" in my future if I ate that!!!

I've read quite a few posts and threads about this over the years about this. And the short answer is that I've been able to conclude the answer is both, to some degree. Both the (some at least) cases and the USA guitars have a scent. "Both" also explains why the debate has raged on for so many years.
That's why I roll my eyes when someone has "irrefutable proof" that it is one and not the other. "There you have it, folks!"
I owned a few brand new Gibson's and could never smell the Vanilla. I like the smell that's in there, to me its a new a "new guitar smell" Perhaps if I was to smell James' guitar case,I might not interpret the smell as Vanilla like he does? Just a thought...

Ah, you must bear in mind that my experience with really good Hot Dogs is practically non-existent, Bill. Just because I thought the Dog I had on Coney Island was tasty does not mean that it would, erm, cut the mustard (Ho!) with all you folks who know the real-deal when it comes along and bites their bum.
Pip.
It funny how the same type of food taste different on either side of the pond. I first had Indian food (Curry) in the UK about 25 years ago, I LOVED IT!!!! Here in the states, blah! I thought maybe it was just the restaurants here in New Jersey. When I was in London in August I ordered me some Curry and now I remember what I fell in love with.

Well they do sound a bit like monks humming in a cathedral with tons of natural reverb!

Nathan's is arguably the best dog here in the North East. I buy the packaged style from the grocery store and I like them. I've been to a few Nathan's as you have shown above and I wasn't impressed.

That's one thing about a lot of this technology that Gibson came out with in the past, at some point they will stop supporting it. Just like the batteries on those Firebird Xs. When the PCB start going out on these guitars, I think we will be hard pressed to find replacements. Fortunately we can remove that and put in the traditional circuitry.

Skyline dogs as well.
Now you're talking! Skyline cannot be found where I live. Used to get them all the time when I lived in the Cincinnati area. I believe its an acquired taste especially when you put that chili on spaghetti. I think they use chocolate in their recipe. Man they put a ton of shredded cheese and some raw onion on them, and it's awesome and flavor comes back and reminds you throughout the day.

Give me a Hebrew National right off the grill with yellow mustard and a cold one and I'm good to go.
Nothing wrong with that either! 👍

Avocados seem to be big with Millennials.
Ahh man I love Avocados, if they made it into a sauce I would try to introduce it into the bedroom.
Avocado on a hot dog doesn't sound to bad, I would want salsa ketchup or mustard. Maybe with a chili dog??

I pulled into Pearl about 8-9 times in the Nav. I never wore long pants when I hit the “beach” (Navy term for being off the ship). Folks there are way laid back, I had a routine I would hit Fort Derussy first and get real lubed up on military drink prices then head down to the Shore Bird and party. But being home ported in Long Beach CA going to Pearl felt like being in LA.
I would give up ten years of life remaining if I could go back in time to my first ship.
I flew into Hickam a few times while doing runs into Japan. I went nude... That's why I assumed mihcmac...

It's now that time of day right now, just between lunch and dinner, that a nice cool kosher pickle would would hit the spot. A second one would be even better.
