I've really got my eye on the IBJL Casino but most likely won't have time to make the 160 mi. round trip to play one before Sept.

tell me about YOURS, are you happy w/it? unhappy w/it? why?

I know the specs. & have read about a few coming in w/issues (as a few of EVERY model do), what are y'alls overall opinions on the guitar?

thanks in advance !

i'm wanting the PRE-sandpapered version btw

I bought one used from MF a few years ago. It seemed reasonably well built and sounded great. I loved the neck. The only problem was it had a low fret that buzzed terribly so I sent it back. I have also owned an Elitist which I thought was built a little better but the IBJL sounded just as good to me. A big difference between the two was the more standard/chunky neck on the IBJL versus the very thin neck on the Elitist. If I wanted another Casino I wouldn't hesitate to try another IBJL.

If they put 1-piece necks on them (no scarf joints), like the originals,

I'd think seriously about getting one. I.E. original spec's, regardless

of where it's made! I'd like to see Epiphone do that, to ALL their Asian

made models. Including going back to "Gibson" Truss rods, and 2-hole TRC's!

Gunner....yes, the 14.whatever degree quartersawn neck on the Elitist lets them downsize it safely, and it+the bone nut is awfully tempting.

I have both a standard Casino (the burst) and the Inspired By Lennon Casino (the natural). I love my Lennon Casino. It is truly one of the finest guitars I own and one of the most fun guitars to play. Thing is, so is my standard Casino.

Yes, the Lennon Casino gives you a few more things (you researched the differences), but even without those different specs, the basic Casino is a fantastic guitar. The Lennon's electronics and tuners and the fact that it comes with a case are a great plus. It is a great guitar and really I don't know of any recurring faults in the model. It's about as good as any guitar can get.

many thanks for the responses, i'm pretty much set on getting an Elitist now....

nothing wrong with the IBJL.....but with my annual "profit-share" and 50th b-day being less than a month apart, i'm going to REALLY treat myself for once !!

sometime around Sept.15th...i'm pulling the trigger!

Excellent choice, Bender! I was playing an Elitist Cssino, yesterday, at my dealer's.

Awesome sounding, and playing, guitar! There just that little "edge" in quality, that's

quite apparent...IMHO. The Standard and IBJL Casino's are great, but the Elitist just has

that bit of an edge, to me. Better woods??? I don't know. But...You can really hear it,

"unplugged," as well. [thumbup]

I do think the wood is better. I remember the wood on my Elitist being beautiful, including the back. And the mahogany neck was gorgeous. IBJL was nothing to sneeze at though.

Also, if I recall correctly, the IBJL had a small post under the bridge but the Elitist did not. I would think the lack of a post would contribute to a better unplugged sound.
