Interesting Guitar

The guy in the vid is using a guitar that looks like the low three strings are bass and the other three are doubled up as in a 12 string...so 9 strings total and it sounds pretty cool. Is this a thing that's been done a lot 'cus I've never seen one at a shop.

I don't know what the guitar is but it certainly sounds uber cool.I haven't seen a guitar with that kind of layout either,it looks and sounds like something that Linda Manzer would come up with.

Here's the first guy playing a 9-string I ever heard... 'twas the spring of '64. There's more of the guy and a pretty-much home-modded guitar. Big Joe Williams. I'm told nobody ever really figured the tuning. If you like this sorta material, there's more on YouTube.
