retrorod
.....Why do people do what they do? A 1955 ES-295 which was given to a young fellow from his deceased Uncle. I was tasked with cleaning, assessing and re-stringing the guitar. Overall, in good shape and playability ,however, some hardware changes and not a hint of that beautifull gold finish left....(sigh)! The guitar shows well and has some major Mojo in spite of an amateur re-fin. The Cali-girl case is 'the bomb' I would love to do a 'proper' restoration. Any clues to this tremolo origin? Its not Bigsby.....but it looks sort of familiar from other old guitars?
Holmis
Looks nice, but the bridge is angled the wrong way to get a proper intonation, isn't it?
retrorod
Oh yeah. I just snapped a picture before doing my work. The bridge is moveable and is not bolted to the top Rod
Dave F
Looks like a home made adapter and bar on that tremelo trying to look like Chet. Tremelo itself looks similar to the aluminum ones Ovation was making in the late 60's but not exactly. Probably a generic. I'd loose it and put a Bigsby on it or put one on like this http://www2.gibson.c...otty-Moore.aspx
aliasphobias
What a shame. That guitar would ooze cool w/gold finish! I have seen similar tremolo arms on old archtops. I'm not sure about the clear plastic extension piece.
