jeremywrags
Hi all, I gather this is fairly common after a while but I just got a brand new Les Paul Custom Matt Heafy signature and it has a hairline crack where the neck meets the body. I think that the crack is just in the finish but I really have no way of telling. I bought the guitar on Amazon, they will exchange or return the guitar, what would you do. I will post a pic shortly I can't seem to figure out how to do it from an iPhone.

Scott0
i would ask amazon to ship out the replacement without needing to get that one back first, then i'd compare the 2 and keep my fav. if that happens to be the one with the crack, implore amazon to give you a discount for keeping it. Whitmore Willy
Jeremywrags, Welcome to the forum. If this is the pic you are trying to upload: From what I can see, I don't like it....not right. I will say if that is the pic, then, better lighting might help. Willy Edit: It may not be a problem but....you paid for new. W.W.
Pin
I agree with Willy. That crack just doesn't look right. Compare that jagged crack with the straight line neck join in the pics on the other "crack" thread: http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/topic/108530-does-this-look-bad/ In my view a jagged crack like that might indicate movement in the neck / body join. True the movement might be so tiny that you can't feel it but still there nevertheless. I'd be inclined to send that one back.
Dennis G
Add me to the "it's not right" crowd. I just looked at my LP and while you can see a definite wood joint line, the finish is smooth over both pieces with no apparent "crack".
