nautical_sausage
Theres hardly a difference to me. I think the Seymour duncans were a little lighter and more open sounding.
Mr. C.O. Jones
It isn´t a big difference, but personaly i prefer the Burstbucker´s thicker tone.
Marky Forrest
I'm with Todeshauch. They both sound great but I prefer the Burstbuckers slightly.
ReGuitar
Hi, I wouldn't compare the SH-4 to Gibson BBucker. I own guitars with both pups. SH-4 has higher output than BB's.
Searcy
I think I hear a little more top end out of the BurstBuckers particularly on the rhythm chord parts. The SD has a bit more low end and fewer highs to my ear. Construction wise there is a world of difference in these two pickups. The JB has twice as mant windings as the Gibson. I will say that all the subtle tone differences in pickups and guitar wiring in general start to fade away as you run through higher and higher gain. In other words, the more gain you use the less your pickups matter in regard to tone.
casey_vee
I just went from burstbuckers to sh-4 and sh-1 combo. The burstbuckers sounded muddy and less responsive. The clarity of the SDs whether driven or clean is definitely there.
casey_vee
I feel like different pickups respond to different player's hands in their own way. Threads like these seem to go in circles without really good sound clips. "/
casey_vee
I admittedly don't but the difference between a burstbucker and jb is so apparent I'd go as far as to say it has improved my playing in a live setting. The way it responds to my hands and rig... it was the missing piece.
