xrr Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Hi all, I wasn't very successful with my last topics on the Nighthawk, but I'll try again. I've bought mine used and I'm trying to put it back to original condition... This will start with the wiring but I'm realising that I've 4 springs in the floyd cavity with one additional place for another one. So it makes me wonder how many springs are originally in the Nighthawks with floyd... Anyone to check ? cheers,
HEADKNOCKER Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Hi all, I wasn't very successful with my last topics on the Nighthawk, but I'll try again. I've bought mine used and I'm trying to put it down to original settings... stein Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I am not sure, but I believe a floyd system, bought separately comes with 4 spings. I seem to remember buying one many years ago and that's what it came with. But, as for being set up in the guitar, you can use as few as 2 and as much as five. It's made that way, so you can choose how much tension you like. Most will be optimal with 3 springs, being the most common. Very, very rarely will you want to use 5 springs unless you want to "block" it against the body and not use it.

dReit1 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I can't recall ever seeing a Nighthawk with a Floyd. Got any pictures?

xrr Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 I can't recall ever seeing a Nighthawk with a Floyd. Got any pictures? Here you go... There are not that common it seems, given the fair amount of replies I got from owners ;) ...
dReit1 Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Thank you. I think I still prefer the hardtail.
HEADKNOCKER Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 I like em both!! You sure don't see many with the Floyd Rose Trem & three pickups..
brundaddy Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Some guys use only 3 springs for a lighter touch. It depends on the feel you like. You do sorta need to know what you're doing when making the adjustments so everything sits happy and acts right, or else it'll all be out of whack and it will suck.
HEADKNOCKER Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 xrr I saw one of these on eBay yesterday for $999 Rare Gibson Nighthawk with factory Floyd Rose tremolo
