harmonicchaos
i just noticed that the lp vm has a gold colored painted on logo while all the other guitars have mother of pearl. what other guitars are like that. is it because it is vintage mahogany? or is it to save some money since it's a cheaper model? Geetar_Axl
Wait, the logo is inlayed? (said right?) I like the loook of the Gold. All the 50's Gibsons have the gold dont they, are they stickers (is that what decal is?)?
TheLiveSoundGuy
Yes you can refer to decals as "stickers". They are actually water slide transfers. The graphic is soaked in water then positioned on the guitar. The transfer is then squeegeed to displace the water and any bubbles, then the backing paper is removed. A clear nitrocellulose lacquer is then applied to "seal" it in as it were. This keeps it from rubbing or scratching off.
led floyd9
btw as far as i know the cheapest gibby u can get with the inlay is the sg classic I was talking about LP's. Not all Gibsons. I think the cheapest Gibson with a mother of pearl inlay is the SG Godess, but it only costs $1 less than the SG Classic.
Riffster
The VM Les Paul logo is silk screened I believe, it is not a waterslide like those on Fender guitars...
