Zippydog
Hey gang, Just picked up this cool Special I in Worn TV yellow. Made a couple of mods which include a black Tusq nut some new pearloid tuners a pick guard and I removed the finish off the neck (Ilike the body color but not on the neck) If anybody reading this owns a Special I or II, do you have a gap between the heel of the neck and the body? Like mine has a gap a little less than a 1/4". The scale length with the gap is 24.75 like it's supposed to be. Should I shove it in more re-drill and change the scale length? Here's some pictures. http://www.use.com/MjaIG http://www.use.com/MjdN9

But it's yours to ruin if the gap really bothers you, no one will stop you.

Zippydog
Thanks. So do you guys own this guitar and does yours have the gap I speak of? I'm curious if Epiphone discovered this was the way to get superb resonance. Cheers
jdogric12
I totally get trying to make it as good as possible, but I think for a $100-200 guitar you might have to live with that gap.
Zippydog
I don't have a problem with the gap and I gave up thinking about pushing it back to make better contact within the neck pocket. I was asking if all Epiphone Les Paul Specials have this gap or is mine "special'" Hopefully someone with one will chime in. Just curious.
epistrat
I have an Epi LP Special II and it has gaps on both sides of the neck pocket, I don't have a problem with them, tho
epistrat
I just checked your pics, mine doesn't have a gap at the bottom of the neck and neck pocket. Just on the sides.
Zippydog
Thanks for the confirmation Epistrat. I looked at some Special II's at GC and theirs didn't either. It sounds good. I'm not going to worry about it. I think.
