What year would you consider this build date?

I have a SG with a 11/1/18 build date. 

It was sold to me as a 2019 model but wondering if you would consider that technically a 2018?

Sort of like new vehicles when the "new model year" comes out in the fall if the previous year.

I think like cars the new models come out before the end of the year.  So it could be their next year model built at the end of the year.

The serial number.  The "build date" is specific to something they did that day.  The serial is put on as it finishes up, at least it used to.  I would go with the date the serial number gives.

Good point.  I never thought about it that way.  But the serial # search I used was way off.

That's 2019 serial#, Gibson changed their format awhile ago and you cant get the build day anymore,  just the year which is the 1st 2 digits.

Consistency is not Gibson's strong point. They have about 15 different ways you need to run through a matrix to determine what way the serial numbering system was that week.
