mspresso
Can someone help me pinpoint the production year of the Les Paul I just purchased at a pawn shop? My searching looks like maybe 1967 but it could be a later re-issue. Thanks in advance.
jdgm
Hello This looks to be a Gibson LP Classic '1960' reissue and most likely made in 2005. (05 at start of serial no.). It must have been refinished (it would have been sunburst when new) and whoever did that decided to paint in the serial no., though from your pics the refin has been done well enough. I'm not an expert, so forum members please correct me if I'm wrong. Best wishes!
btoth76
Hello. There were black Classics and the serial number looks just like it should be. I have no reason to suspect it was refinished. Bence.
tx-ogre
Yep, it’s a 2005 LP Classic. I have a 2003 in Light Burst finish. Great guitar.

Twang Gang
I had one that I bought Feb of 2001, new for $1,460 (list was $2483). It was the cherry burst and a good playing, good sounding LP. I traded it in 2008 and got $1,900 in trade so it did well value-wise, sure I could have gotten more it I'd sold it outright instead of trading. That Ebony one is a sharp looking guitar, hope it plays as well as it looks 👍
