Sounds awesome because the limited quantity and price of the sig. ES355 is outrageous - anymore details on the Riviera? I'll definitely be seeking one of these. Fingers crossed they do a version of the Sheraton played at Knebworth at some stage with the full fingerboard fret markers and frequensator!

Mark Aug 30 down as that is the targeted announcement date. North of the border the wine red Matsumoku Riviera will be retailing for $1219, so maybe in States approx $800 - $900.

Not sure of the release date, but there will be a signature Riviera available before the end of the year.
This was teased as a possible release back in January (along with the 355). UK price quoted for the re-issue is £799.

For me, the Matsumoku Riviera is the definitive Oasis guitar.

Yeah the 355 was the one everyone was talking about. Already locked in on that. Only just recently heard through a connection regarding the Matsumoku Riviera and pricing and release date. So I gotta pick that one up too…

I have a few early 80's Matsumoku Epiphones including an original 84' wine red Riviera, so it is likely that I will end up passing on this.
Got one on pre-order (just in case), but waiting on full details / specs etc on the reissue before committing 100%.

Can I ask when you pre-ordered it? I don't understand how the U.K. retailers do this. I thought we just go on the website in August and try to get the guitar. Apparently there is a backdoor pre-order unannounced anywhere, so when the guitar is unveiled in August there will be none available for anybody as all of the limited orders have been pre-ordered from back in May 2022 without even so much as an advert in May on these retailers websites about how to do this. Load of nonsense. As I say, looking forward to the mass produced Riviera if these rumours are accurate. Epiphone better not mess that release up with this pau ferro baloney either. Either go big on it or go home Epiphone.

Aug 30 is the targeted official announcement from Gibson (it could be sooner). The Epiphone Riviera’s will be available in mid Sept. I know the exact date for when they will be available here in Canada. Just can’t say..By the way there will be more Epiphone Riviera’s available as opposed to the 355 (Limited to 200), so in theory should be easier to get one.

The Riviera? I only put down a deposit last week (26th July) once one of the retailers I had contacted previously got in contact after receiving confirmation from Gibson / Epiphone regarding pricing and allocations.  I had contacted various retailers beforehand to register my interest and get put on the list as this was first teased back in January, but it picked up a lot more traction in June.

I've no idea how limited or mass produced this will be, but it should be much easier to get one.
If you want one, you should be able to put down a deposit this week to secure a pre-order if you call / email a few retailers.

Don't have a copy of the A4 spec sheet, but from memory the fretboard material will be Indian Laurel and it comes with a case. Unfortunately I doubt it's made in Japan like the original.

Really appreciate that info Aldo - IMO would've been nice to see rosewood or ebony on the Riviera but Indian Laurel will have to do. Just happy they are doing it really. I can't wait to see some of the first images of this Riviera -  interested to see what they do with that. And please Epiphone do a re-issue of Noel's Knebworth Sheraton - if we are talking iconic that is right up there - bloody thing would be a licence to print money. I love the Union Jack Sheraton and Maine Road performance as much as any Oasis fanatic but as an Irishman - toting a massive Union Jack ES style guitar around these parts can be quite dangerous...

The Indian Laurel is a bit of a letdown, considering the original was rosewood. But I have an Epiphone Worn Ebony Casino which has the same and it’s OK, but the price was below $500 USD. But again if you are charging $800-900 USD it should have rosewood.

Yeah, the sales assistant mentioned that "they have cheaped out a bit" when discussing this.

Only had visibility of the A4 spec sheet, but from memory it was essentially similar specs to the burgundy / royal tan Riviera released last year (but with stop bar tailpiece, full size Epi humbuckers, 80's style 'E' pickguard logo and headstock volute).

Visually it looked like the real thing, but what really made the originals IMO was (in addition to the Japanese craftsmanship) the Maxon MMK-61 pickups.

So this Noel Gallagher Riviera will look exactly like the one he used in the “Don’t Look Back In Anger” vid correct? I was shown the spec sheet as well, but no visual other than what was teased in the Mark Agnesi Instagram Story from earlier this year.

Yes, it is a reissue / replica of the early 80's Matsumoku / Japan made wine red Riviera which was his main guitar from 1995 to early 1996 (and as seen in the promotional music videos for Roll With It, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova, Don't Look Back In Anger etc).

Have attached a picture of my original 1984 Riviera.

I put my down payment on it today. I had all the information already, but they never provided a visual, so had to take the chance that it was gonna look like the one we all know….Can’t wait for my NG 355 as well….2 NGD next month hopefully.

Aldo,

You check out gueikian’s (Cesar (Gibson)) Instagram story? Looks like Cesar is showcasing both the NG 355 & NG Riviera. If the Riviera he is playing is in fact the final production model, the “E” on the pickguard will not be the same as your guitar, but will be a foiled sticker. Same shape, but not black and not engraved or printed onto the guard…

Only seeing it now (thanks!). At first I thought that it was a blank pickguard, but it was just the lighting in the 1st video.

A bit disappointing as small details like this count.....unless they want to have slight variations to differentiate between the reissue and the originals.
It is instantly noticeable if you are familiar with the original early 80's Matsumoku models.

Yeah if that is the final production model..Very sad. Will definitely have to do some mods to the pickguard and truss rod for sure.

Glad to see extra info here! I swung by after spotting a Matsumoko Riviera in the background of a photo of Noel with the signature 355 worn so glad to hear it looks like it is coming!

I'm so excited! Been waiting for years for a Matsumoko reissue and many posts on here about it. Maybe Cesar from Gibson has been reading? 😜

I also found this screen grab from one of Cesar's videos on this rather spammy news article. I have been unable to find the original video maybe he deleted it.

Hoping the pickguard is more accurate and that awful truss rod cover gets fixed for the final Production models. Small details matter..

No, but the 355 is being launched tomorrow.....general assumption is that the Riviera will be released / communicated at the same time.

Talk to your local guitar store chain. Here in the guitar is already listed in the system with an ETA of Sept 20, 2022. $1219 CAD is the MSRP, not sure about US..
