Name This Old Archtop ?

Murph

The only Gibson archtop I currently own on that 1920 L3.  Very lo-fi sounding so it is not going to be everybody's cup of tea.  But for me it is a good as it gets for digging into some blues and rags or for backing a Texas fiddle tune.  It is also the comfiest Gibson I have ever played with is 1 7/8" nut, soft V carve neck which clocks in at a depth of 1.05" at the 1st fret and 2 5/16" string spacing at the bridge.  The only other Gibson-made archtop I have owned was a 1935 Capital which was part of the same batch which produced a Cromwell and a Kalamazoo model.

I also want to say that Gibson did produce at least one Cromwell with a carved top and two tone bar bracing.  But what one would run you, I do not have a clue.

I don’t know the specifics but I will echo this sentiment. I had a 1934 L-7 with a wide, soft vee neck and it was very comfortable. The top had been refinished black and the center seam was split wide. I never heard it properly.
