Lester was the first shredder ?

While watching this five part series on les paul I began to think after watching him play that he is really the first shreddder......what do you all think?

Django is still cleaner and faster than most people who call themselves shredders today! This is circa 1930's

 

 

Also this may be towards his later years but Segovia too in the early 20th century was really pioneering Classical guitar technique (for most of the romantic period it had been pretty much forgotten)

Absolutely no disrespect intended towards Les' date=' but I'd put Django up against anyone: metal, jazz, anything (with a handicapped left hand no less)[/quote']

 

I saw a documentary on Django where in France people put rubber bands around their folded pinky and ring fingers and play.

The French let the gypsies take part because it's good for the festival, but when it's over, they treat them like dogs.
