saturn
I worked at a catering ballroom from 1984 to about 1991-92. During that time, I saw a LOT of wedding receptions. Sometimes on a Saturday it would be 5 AM receptions and then change-over for another 5 receptions at night. Many of the same songs were played at EVERY reception, whether by DJ or band. Though I distinclty remember one party that specifically stated the house band was to play no Michael Jackson Billie Jean - MJ Heaven - Bryan Adams Caribbean Queen - Billy Ocean Truly - Lionel Ritchie? Ghost Busters - Ray Parker Jr. Old Time Rock and Roll - Bob Segar I Can't Help Falling In Love With You - Elvis I know there's more. What other songs are always played at weddings today? Californiaman
This was the song my wife and I insisted as the bride's maids walked down the isle before she entered the church with her father and the traditional wedding march was played. It floored many in attendance they were litterally crying in their seats. I remember seeing a guy wipe a tear from his eyes. Just slayed them. saturn
I was mainly speaking about the songs they played at the reception, not so much the ceremony.
Guest
Now days, it's probably some Kanye West "I killed and then raped a ho, I'm a pimp!" stuff.
NeoConMan
I don't go to many weddings. Almost all hire a DJ which is like hell to me. It's either dance/disco/hip-hop sh!t or bouncy redneck country with a loud-mouth DJ who won't shut the fxck up. Well, at MY wedding 4 years ago we had my buddies band.... Clapton - Wonderful Tonight Band played that one for Mrs. Neo and I, despite it being a song about addiction. I played guitar on a few songs myself, such as Georgia Satellites - Keep Your Hands To Yourself - and extended it with some cool lick-trading between guitars. (One of Mrs. Neo's favorites) AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie (She told me not to, but we did anyway because I love to play that song....) Also did Tommy TuTone - Jenny (867-5309) even though I was in the "wrong" key which turned out to be right later on. Big laughs for all at my expense. Can't remember what else at the moment....
