Sitric
I went to adjust the truss rod on my AJ only to find that it won't accept my allen key (the interior of the head seems circular to me) - nor is there room to apply my pliers around the head. How is it done? http://www.myspace.com/brendevereux http://www.brendandevereux.com
jchabalk
a socket wrench of the correct size works quite well. You could also get a truss rod adjustment wrench just to have around: I have one of these and they're great. (i also rarely have to adjust my truss rod)
pohatu771
Gibson includes one of these: http://www.partsisparts.net/products/1600/Truss-Rod-Tool-for-Gibson.htm In every new guitar. They might not anymore, though... the last new Gibson I bought was a NOS 2007.
Sitric
Thanks folks. Does the same wrench fit all Gibsons? I see the Gibson wrench at Parts is Parts is 5/16ths.
ksdaddy
I think so. I've never encountered anything other than 5/16" on a Gibson.
drathbun
I didn't get a wrench with my new Songwriter in 2008. I have the proper socket wrench so it didn't matter, but they obviously don't ship them with the wrench anymore (or my dealer is stockpiling them). pohatu771
The wrench from my 2007 Melody Maker works on my 1983 Nashville and my 1965 Kalamazoo, so the chances of finding a Gibson with a different size are slim. The Gibson Songmaker series (Canadian) may not, particularly the oldest models. I know they were simply re-shaping Garrison headstocks on the first run, until they used up all of the old-stock.
