It's a perfect lead boost - I keep the gain down pretty low though or it gets crazy (since it's running through a Marshall already). It adds quite a bit of bass to the signal too. The only drawback to these early VooDoo Lab pedals is the lack of an LED. Sometimes I forget if its of or off between songs. I am going to add one I think. BUT, i will add to the full-tone discusssion that if you're looking for a good clean boost the fat boost3 is a great pedal. also, if you're looking for clean boost, a boss eq pedal works great using the volume control at your required level.
