jimmiJAMM
Sure doesn't look like a '68 to me. Those speed knobs and Schaller long bridge reek of 70's Norlin era.
slayer of souls
I used the gibson serial finder. But thats what I thought... I couldnt find any images of a Gibson from that era with a bigsby bridge. Any estimate?
jimmiJAMM
With a refinished paint job, non-original pickups and model year still undetermined it's kinda hard to say. Ah, here we are. Looks like she's a 1971. Lots of info... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.amdphotodesign.com/Gibson/Gibson%2520SG%2520Standard.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.amdphotodesign.com/gibson.html&usg=__P_E-LK4SRVP-rRskw6tZXyki6Pw=&h=300&w=760&sz=75&hl=en&start=13&sig2=7l8BBrhX7XW5EJE_pvizKg&tbnid=1EUtclU-oV0MVM:&tbnh=56&tbnw=142&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dnorlin%2Bsg,%2Bbigsby%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den&ei=6H1XS5yBIIHalAfdxan7Aw

cwness
Does it have a volute on the neck by the head stock. I may be wrong but I thought the 70's SG had the plastic control cover on the front. Correct me if I'm wrong. CW
jimmiJAMM
The block, instead of trapezoid inlays shows that it's a 70's Norlin era guitar. Those plastic control covers you mention were on some Deluxe models. I'll bet anything there's a volute on the back of that thing.

Tech21
Check the pot codes if you want a more accurate date (assuming they haven't been changed) but it ain't no '68 thats for sure. SG Std was re-introduced in late '72 (to take over from the SG Deluxe) and most of these had a Bigsby fitted as a matter of course, a few were available with stop bars and they looked a whole lot better for it... just MHO you understand, but I think any guitar with a Bigsby fitted looks totally horrendous. Yours will probably turn out to be a '73 - '74 and also, check it out for a repaired headstock break. $400 seems a fair estimate based on its condition and (none) originality, pickups, finish etc. I quite like the '73-'74 SG Standards, well the ones without the string wobbling "ironwork" fitted anyway, but I think I am probably in the minority. If it was a '71-'72 Deluxe it would like like this.... T21

sellen
If you have the original parts it helps, but you did that repaint. Guess your ****ed at the vintage marked. With those emg in it you can come over a metal head that take this over a new standard or special. I say you can be lucky and get a 1000$. keep it, and in 20 years if you take good care of it, it might be worth something.
