Pickup comparison?

Recommended Posts

The 57 Classic and 490r are very similar.

What don't you like about the 490r?

What are you looking for in a different pickup?

Well, as these things go,

I got a great sound out of my treble pickup, but the neck sounds dark...

I am not changing it for sure...I am considering it as a last resort...

I am considering all options

Are you using the original pots and caps?

You can switch to 500k pots to brighten it up a little.

That may be the perfect fix.

I am using 500K....hehe

RS Guitarworks SuperPots for the Volume and the regular tone pots that they offer

Also the Paper in Oil cap..

hmmmm

Maybe I've just gotten too accustomed to the brightness of the treble pickup...maybe its too birght and I don't realize it?

490's are a little harsh for my taste. They break too early. Its cool if your into high gain tones.

Me' date=' I have mellowed with age and prefer lower output pups and let my amp do the work.[/quote']

I like the 498T but not the 490 so much...

I was thinking maybe the Lindy Fralin PAF pickup?
