I bought one of those Fender Palo Escrito telecasters from MF. The body is unbelievably gorgeous but that's about all I can say good about it (and I'm a big tele fan).

As bad as it sounds, I'm glad to hear you say that...

The day after I bought my $600 Fender Strat, MF had the Palo Escrito Tele at $400. The store didn't have any to try, so I didn't get a chance.

How's it look? I was reading that Palo Escrito is a rosewood, and was thinking that it would be the closest to George's Tele as we could get without going to the Custom Shop.

Pohatu, I should have the Palo Escrito back in about a week. Yeah, I got mine when they were $599 but I got $120 off (with a 20% coupon). After playing it for about an hour I was real tempted to send it back but that body was just too beautiful! But, as I said, I really didn't like anything else about it (& I own 4 other teles). It had those real crappy pre-2006 'stock' pickups that are terrible. Plus, the truss rod adjustment was at the 'tail end' of the neck which required you to remove the pickguard if you needed to adjust it (with a Phillips head adjustment screw!). I found out the hard way, as the neck needed adjustment. The bridge was a real old-style 3-saddle type with what looked like 'all-thread' saddles that interfered with each other.

The only reason I kept it was that I had been kicking around the idea of having my buddy build me a guitar for some time but I'm not real thrilled with his body types. So the light bulb sorta went off & I decided to keep it & have him build a guitar from that body. I gave the old neck to one of my brothers who's going to put it on a tele body he has.

I'll put up some pics as soon as I get it back.

You are one sick puppy there Spud!!! I like it!!! Right now looks like the ultimate relic LOL. Do you have to steam fit the veneer ? Or is it flat enough that you don't?

Well, I'll tell ya, it was never my intention to go this far; originally I was trying to leave the factory veneer intact. I'm thinking that I should be able to wet the veneer and then sandbag it on top of the guitar to get it to take the shape of the top.

Great Jerry I see your Epi SG junior is looking pretty good. I am so glad it worked out so fast and well!

I am sure it SINGS!

I love mine. I decided to keep the stock Epi P90 it has a crunchy growl that I really dig.

Only thing I added were grover minis & I bought a new dog ear cover from GFS.

Rotcan can't wait to see that finished studio project!

Cool projects Gary as always...looking good around here! Good to see you guys are doing it all!

Welcome home' date=' Suplex. If you listen to [i']Don't Stop[/i] on my MySpace page (link below), all the slide work is done with Junior. It should start automatically.

Thanks Jerry nice to be home...been awhile. I love the tone you get on this track. Which P90 did you go with? What Amp? Sounds real nice man.

Thanks!!! I went with the dog-ear that I told you about, and put the soapbar from the Junior in my Double Olympic project. That junior pup is a screamer, sounds great in the Olympic and it fit - I need a shallow pickup for the neck and the Kent Armstrongs I had were a touch deeper. I did use the KA in the bridge position, and they match up just fine.

I generally don't use amps when I record, I use a Line 6 Guitar port. If you check out my post about adding the song to MySpace, there's a description on my recording setup.

Those look like a lot of fun' date='Layboomo. Back in the day one of my friends had a black electra that was very similar to that one. Real sweet player as I recall.[/quote']

Well I took for ever to decide what to do with the electra....but I decided to go hi end LP electronics (have a set of pots pickup and switch from a gibby 2001 standard that are going in...but what to do with the 2 other holes and electronics compartment...well I decided to build in an on board analog delay from GFS! Should be way cool...I'm kinda psyched about this one.](*,)/
