LesBonfire
Just wondering if anybody has any suggestions to cover or fill or plug the screw holes on my Les Paul...I'd really like show off the honeyburst plus top...but hate the look of those holes. Any suggestions or tips?
joeymetro
I leave mine on some string changes off on others. Just put the screws in the holes.
TWANG
joeys got it.. put the screws in. otherwise you have to fill those holes. or cover them. to fill them you'd have to put a dowel and then match the finish color.. and get a clearcoat over that. hard job for something so small. and a cover is just going to be something that goes over the hole.. why not the screw? don't be so picky! *s* TWANG
ICH
Another good reason for using the screws is that way you won't loose them. ICH
Just Strum
My Dot has two screws holding the PG, so it really wouldn't stand out that much to do as the others suggest. If you want, you could spray paint the screws to match the color of the guitar, but I don't see it as being necessary.
LesBonfire
thanks for your help guys...i wonder if Epiphone sells any of these Plus top and Plain tops without the pickguard. Gibson does it with a few of their finishes to show off the top (ie Gibson Les Paul Studio - Fireburst)...i think Epiphone should do the same or at least offer it. TWANG
I don't see why not. I don't think many would complain if they just put the guard and bracket with it... and let you drill yourself. But, I suppose some would wiggle the bit and chip the finish.. so I doubt they'd do that. I take mine off now and then.. just to break the monotony. And the sheri seems none the worse for wear from using it without. TWANG
LesBonfire
ya i wanna be able to switch it up, not anything permanent of course. Maybe a hardware store would have some kind of clear silicone plugs?
ef_in_fla
i think Epiphone should do the same or at least offer it. I totally agree. Pickguards should be optional at best.
LesBonfire
exactly..how hard would it be for epiphone and gibson to run a series of the guitars with pickguards...its prolly less work right? no drilling...

My Epi LP Classic Quilted Cherry came with the pickguard unattached. Haven't put it on yet and probably won't' date=' but I have it. I thought Epi LP's came with unattached P-G's. Guess not. LesBonfire
nope...mine came with it on...which is fine...curiousity is just getting to me now. Does ur LP classic have screwholes?
tvyelwhiteflag
The pick guard came off my gold top classic MONTHS ago, I prefer the look of it that way. The cream coloured plastic pick guard just looks cheap to me, it just looks like a crappy piece of plastic. The sight of the two little holes doesn't bug me in the least, but staring at them right now reminds me I should be playing my LP not looking at it :0)

judybat
You can't see the holes when you're playing so why worry...
BarreNone
I removed my pickguard and put the screws back in the holes; I touched them with a red sharpie to help them blend in with my sunburst finish. The screws keep any crud out of the holes, in case you ever want to put the PG back on........
