alcorn429
Thinking about putting some new pups in the LP over christmas(Currently have the stock pups). Was kinda thinking a Seymour Alnico pro 2 in the neck and a gibson dirty fingers in the bridge. Any other suggestions ?

LesBonfire
How difficult is it to switch the pickups? Is it a job for a guitar tech? Or do it ur own jobby?
Ron G
How difficult is it to switch the pickups? Is it a job for a guitar tech? Or do it ur own jobby? Really easy on a solid body - no need to pay a tech. I did my first two pickup swaps on a semi-hollow' date=' where you have to pull components through the F-holes - not really that hard, either. Hey, if [i']I[/i] can do it.........
LesBonfire
right on...i guess i should take a look at the guts of my sg special before i mess with the LP then eh?
charlie brown
What kind of music do you gravitate toward. That might tell you/us more about where to go, pickup wise? CB

CB[/quote'] +1 The style of music you play or want to play will help you decide which pup to get.
LesBonfire
I like the idea of the Alnico Pro II's in the neck...hell slash has his in both neck and bridge. And they aren't just for rock...cuz of they're lower output they can be pretty versatile with the right amp set ups.
alcorn429
I mainly play classic rock and some new stuff. Also play alot of southern rock
Ricochet
I mainly play classic rock and some new stuff. Also play alot of southern rock I'd stick to PAF-type output. SD Alnico2 works great in neck as well as bridge. Maybe try something slightly hotter like a Burstbucker Pro in bridge.
stan 58
I use the Cheat method when i change PUs, saves time and trouble. It's so easy a caveman could do it. Stan.

djroge1
I mainly play classic rock and some new stuff. Also play alot of southern rock DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and a PAF in the neck.
charlie brown
Most "Classic Rock and (original) Southern Rock," was...(if played on Humbucking equipped guitars), PAF's...."Stock!" So, '57's or Burst Bucker's would seem to be the way to go, there. All the "modding" came later, mostly. However...nowadays, with all the aftermarket pickups out there...who knows, what they use "live" anymore? ;>b CB
