Used Sheraton- Any years better than other or to avoid?

Hi everybody. I've been reading and looking around for a while and there's some great info to be had here. I'd like to pick up a Sheraton II for mainly blues type tones. I've noticed that things have changed a little bit over the years and manufacturing plants are different now. Is there a period that the Sheraton was considered to be in it's prime (when talking about the more modern guitars)? I particularly like the sunburst finish. What year did they change to the lighter coloring? I like the older, darker finish in pictures but I haven't seen it in person. Anything else to consider when looking at used Sheratons? (I haven't seen any used locally, so I've been looking online.) Thanks for any info regarding these guitars!

Thanks for the replies. Can you tell me the year the Sheraton was last made in Korea? I can't seem to find a timeline of where they were manufactured. I saw somewhere that they moved to China in 2002, but were they built in Japan in between Korea and China? Thanks!

Don't know dates for certain, but my Korean Sheraton is 2004. There are also different factories involved in Korean production, details like the size of the bridge may be of interest to you if you intend upgrades. Many previous threads here about that.

If you could get your paws on an Elitist Sheraton, you'd be blown away. Hard to find these days. With the high-end Epiphones gone now, you have to shoot for an Elitist Casino if you want immaculate quality.
