leicester35
A dealer not too far away from me has one of these for sale: Does it remind you of anything? I think that clear plastic scratch-plate would have to go, either a white one or nothing at all. Does anyone have any experience of these guitars? The dealer makes some lofty claims: "These guitars are so good we have be waiting over a year to try and get them. Made in the same Korean factory as Gretsch and some of the earlier high quality Epiphones. A really great feeling and sounding guitar. Buy it before someone else does!!" http://www.theguitarspot.com/shop.html I originally went to his website because I was looking for a Gordon-Smith, but then this caught my eye too. Isn't that always the way?
vaxxine
It is true that Peerless made some of the Epi guitars (and Gretsch). For example my 1998 Epi Zephyr Regent (similar to an ES-165) was made in the Peerless factory. I don't know which Gretsch models were made by Peerless but they made some of them. If it's made by Peerless, chances are it will be a decent well made guitar.
jonnyg
I tried one of these at Charlie Chandlers in Kew. Thought it was better made than the standard Chinese Casino but didn't look quite as good as the "IBJL" model. Sound and playability was as good as the "IBJL" IMHO (but Chandlers do a good setup) and £200.00 less inc case. I agree with you about the scratchplate, and the headstock is something you'll love or hate as well. If you ever feel like owning a REALLY flash looking guitar you should see the Peerless Renaissance model in the flesh.
Doc Helliday
I have a 2004 Gretsch Electromatic G5125 it was made in the peerless factory. It is definitely a quality instument. If someone wanted to trade their amazing "vintage" or brand new proline Gretsch for mine (idk why someone would lol) i wouldn't make the trade. It feels and sounds like a pro model but was made in a different factory. that being said 2004 was then its now 2010 and idk how peerless guitars are. If you do get it tell me either through the forum or PM and tell me how she handles. Im interested in those and samick semi-hollows.
hastingsgear
Peerless Songbird Beyond a 1 11/16 nut-width, I know nothing of the neck thickness. How would anyone compare to the Sheraton?
snookelputz
For those of you in Europe, Peerless markets (with slight differences and different model names) almost every successful guitar they ever made for either Epiphone or Gretsch. No North American dealerships, however. They even still make a Zephyr Blues Deluxe, though they call it a Wizard Custom. Mostly archtops, but there's at least a copy of a Duojet, I think it is. http://www.peerlessguitars.co.uk/#/guitars/4523582253
hastingsgear
Thanks for the info. Have you played the Songbird? I'm trying to put out the feelers on feel of the neck. Too thin for my large hands and I will cross it off the list. You know what I mean? I hope it is ok to ask about this guitar on this forum, I just don't think I'm going to find a lefty casino. Notes_Norton
If my 2001 Peerless Casino is any example, they make great guitars. BTW, I like the Peerless headstock, but I'd put a black pickguard on it. Insights and incites by Notes ?
