  • 2 weeks later...

I had a Korean Riviera a while back and I'm pretty sure it was 2007. Think I posted some pics on here. It was a beautiful guitar. Didn't require any setting up (maybe bridge lowered) and played and sounded amazing.

Finish was a dark cherry, no blemishes

Pups were the NY mini type. Quite different from a humbucker. Still have the meat, but a little tighter too

Pots were scratchy when I first bough it, but were fine after about 10 minutes. All other electronics were great, including switch

For some silly reason I sold it, and I have never stopped regretting it!

So much so that I won this last night!

It will be nice to see how it compares to the Korean model.

Joe, sorry to hear that you are going to part with one of your E by G's.

I have enjoyed your research into the differences.

When I start buying again, I will be looking for one.

I don't have an 07 Unsung, but an 06.

Bought off ebay for $475 including hard case from a guy in Florida.

Seems like he bought it, packaged it up and sold it years later.

Still had the plastic on pickups and pickguard.

The red is a little deeper than represented in the photos.

This is the best playing and sounding of all of my archtops.

Tuners stay in tune.

Great tones from the minis.

Thin neck like my Casino and Sorrento.

As for the pickups, I'm not that savvy to take these apart yet, so I'm not sure what they say on the backs.

Since buying, it is hard to pick up another guitar.

Fun to play.

I say get one and you wont be dissatisfied.

Hi Mark

My Space and Budget for my hobby have set limits I have space in this storage for five guitars (this is a strategy to control GAS, and keep within my Budget [blink] )

P1010309.jpg

Until I have satiated my curiosity a lot of guitars will come and go from that storage space. I can also get my Valveking and Pacemaker amps in there...The Valveking is for sale......so there will be an amp space.......

I have two Sheratons my 1987 E-by-G and a later 1989 Sheraton I will have the E-by-G in with a luthier in stockholm it is getting a new assembly, pickups, bone nut and complete set up.

When I get it back if I get the A1 from the luthier. Then I will sell the othewr Sheraton, because I wanted that to put minis in and a fdrequensator....which seems silly since I will have an identical Sheraton so I would be better getting a Riviera. But the 1989 Sherri is so nice I do not want to part until the E-by-G is spot on.

I have sold my Joe Pass and my Levin 335 is for sale. But one of the Sherris is definitely staying probably the 87 E-by-G.

This is the one that will probaly get sold to bring in the Riviera.....

That is also it next to my amp in my avatar. Sometimes I am just tempted to throw a set of mini humbuckers in there and keep it, but why have two Sherris when I could experience a Riviera.........

Yours is a beauty Mark exactly what I looking for wish you lived in Stockholm and fancied a trade...[crying]

I know, I missed out there.

The only place I could find one for £350 (and actually in stock) was a store I don't wish to go back to after last time [blink]

Hi Mark

Joe, I can't have my wife read this, I have mine on the wall, in cases, and at my in-laws.

She is very good about having cases in the family room, and stored in the garage and closets, but if she saw how you have everything in one area, she would want me to do the same. [biggrin] LOL

I told myself that I was not going to buy any more this year, and work on upgrades.

My Casino needs new wiring and I would like to replace tuners on all of my archtops.

I also plan on working on my recording skills with Garage Band on my Mac.

The new LP Specials that Guitar Center have for $375 might change that.

I have been looking for a TV Yellow single or double cut Junior or Special with P-90s.

I would love to pick up a Korean set neck, but everyone on e-bay seem to go for around $500.

I am currently keeping my budget to my GC card. Everything I buy I get for 12 months same as cash.

By the time of my birthday at the end of May, my balance will be $200 with 4 months to go.

I might put the LP and case on it then, if they are still available and float it for 12 months.

After getting the Riviera my GAS seemed to subside.

It is my go to guitar next to my Sorrento. (which is a great guitar. If you get a chance to play one, you might have to get one [biggrin] )

BTW, I loved the research you did on the E by B's.

That is what I love about this forum.

Keep keeping us informed.

Mark
