SamBooka
I bought a guitar on friday. The neck pickup was a 490R that was swapped out for a Classic 57 Plus. How do I know? I have the original owners reciept :) As for the pickups it self. There is a sticker on the back that say PATENT APPLIED FOR... a bit of an anachronism if you ask me. So how do you tell the Classic from the Classic Plus? Lots of companies put model numbers on the back of their pickups. Just curious. Drew
peeper
Measure the resistance of the pup and compare to specs for the various pups.
antwhi2001
Most of the Gibson humbuckers look identical, so Musikron is right. Resistance can vary too, so you may never know exactly what it is.
SamBooka
Thanks guys.. well that is brilliant I think I found a relative chart of pu outputs (Gibson) but that doesnt necesarily corelate with dc resistance. I will google some more this aft. Cheers. Drew

Rewddawg1
The 57 Classic Plus should have a PAF sticker on the back. The I think the plus should say plus on it or have a plus sign. Pics would help! http://store.gibson.com/Products/Pickups/Humbucker/57-Classic-Plus.aspx I will be cleaning my SG3 in the next few days and let you know what's on the back of my 57 classic plus. Rewd.
BHjazzman
Hello, SamBokka and Ricochet... SamBooka, Congratulations again on your ES165. Rich, Maybe you could tell me. Which Pup is on my Epi Zephyr Regent. I am going to change it out with a 57 Classic, but before I do. I'd like to know what the Stock pup is. Thanks. Specs are Alnico5-magnet with a DC-resistance of 7.8 - 8.13KO Hope that helps you.
