NGD Purchase! Epi LP Traditional Pro. It's Here!!!!

Today was a Monday. A Real Monday.

I went to GC this afternoon and was met with a morning crew that was ready to clock out and head home.

Things weren't exactly shining down good vibes and the salesman's attitude of 'Some People just gotta have it in a box, huh?' seemed sour, after I'd played that much scarred LP Studio Blackout floor model and then I asked for 20% off and a fresh boxed guitar. They didn't have one, and the scratched up thing wasn't coming home with me.

It just wasn't happening. I grumbled home and sulked ....

Later, after a tiny bit of chilling I decided I would give the purchase another go.

This time though I was looking at the Epiphone LP Traditional Pro, which I knew they were out of.

It had to be ordered, so after talking to a salesman who was willing to help I asked if the 20% coupon they are running right now could be used? he said he wasn't sure but would check it out.

I had a small trade of a bass guitar I bought but never used so that was credited to the purchase

being in extremely clean condition, it fetched 60% what I paid for it.

After all was said and done I bought the

LP Traditional Pro for $282.99 OTD

I Picked up an Epi LP case from Music & Arts for $69 on sale...(knew I Had To have It!)

so all in all I paid less than $350 for my new LP with case.

Now I just have to wait a few days and it should be here.

I Am Stoked!!!!!![biggrin]

OW!!!

I will Gladly post pics when it arrives!

I'm glad it worked out for you, Gas! I just don't understand the attitude of that first salesman at all ... that guy should realize that gc.com is his FRIEND! I must do at least a dozen orders a month for customers that either want a new guitar or something we don't carry in the store. I get paid for them the exact same way I get paid for selling something off the wall. Also, if that other Studio was that ripped up, it should have been tagged "scratch and dent" during the big Memorial Day Sale. Oh well, like I said ... not all GC's are run the same way. I'm glad that I work in a good one ...

As for the Epiphone Traditional Pro ... you are gonna LOVE it! We've gotten three of them in so far and not one of them has lasted more than 24 hours (I've sold two of them!). It is one amazing axe for $500 and you got an even better deal than that. I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say about it ... and of course, pics!

Thanks Jim,

It really wasn't a bad day after all

I sort of knew who I was dealing with earlier that day but knew somehow if I could get past that one I'd get something done (an uh-oh, it's him feeling) "Sure, If it comes in in pieces you get to deal with it"

As for the Wine Red Trad. Pro it seems to be MIA on the website but the Ebony version is available.

Have you seen one in Ebony?

If so how does it compare to the wine red?

Anyway I got the tracking # last night from GC so now if it could only be recognized

then I could watch some progress!

Come on UPS. wake up I've had my first cup o' Joe already!

The Ebony looks fine' date=' Gas. I'm not a huge fan of the ebony/creme combination myself ... but it is period correct and the guitar is a sure-fire winner! Hope it shows up today!!!

Those are very cool guitars. I was in GC a couple weeks ago to look at a Gretsch g5120 that was on sale and my daughter noticed this ebony LP Traditional Pro hanging on the wall. She loved that satin finish on the bottom and the neck. So, as luck would have it, we ended up trading in our two standard Casinos (since they weren't generating any interest on Craig's List) got the extra 15% off, and got both for cheap. She likes it so much, she wants to sell the Custom Classic Antique one we have now but I'm not convinced I want to do that just yet. Anyway, I'm sure you will enjoy...

It arrived Thursday Morning 6/17/2010

3 days after I ordered it in-store.

Great Job GC & UPS! No busted guitar here!

I haven't really had a chance to play it plugged in, but the neck feels great.

It's a bit lighter than my LP Std Plus, but that's OK with me.

Real time price not including the trade due to it being put on a gift card before total was settled out.

Seeing all the Goodies together like that always makes ME

Smile!!!

Trapezoidal Inlays! [biggrin]

Slim Taper Neck! [biggrin]

An Epiphone "Pro-Bucker-3" Pickup? :-k I've NEVER

heard one before! Interested in feedback on that.

Great looking guitar, like the CASE, too! Hey, wait, I own 4,

oh, yeah....

My FIRST Gibson was a BLACK LP - ooooo, pretty and H@ll to

keep fingerprints off of! FUN, FUN, FUN!

Excellent deal on the price - MF is sending 'em out the door

for $499.00 WITHOUT a case!

Thanks animalfarm!

Yea, the fingerprints and fingertips.

don't want any 'skin scratches'

Seems it may be a slight issue with this finish

This may or may not help, but I only wipe down my guitars

with a REAL Lambskin Chamios, like you get at an autoparts

store. Not the "synthetic, but the REAL, soft, smells like leather

Chamios - I keep one in each case, I buy the smallest size, I

believe about 2.5 Square feet - folds up quite nicely in case pocket.

I use it for everything - Body, Neck, Strings...

Most smudges will just rub off, occasionally I have to dab a bit of

water on smudge, then rub off with Chamios - does NOT scratch finish.

I occasionally polish the "Glossy" guitars, but the "Worn Brown"

Satin/Matte finish LP Studio has only been cleaned with Chamios,

and it's 2 years old...

Very nice indeed, GAS Jones! I think this model has the makings of the best 'bang for buck' Epi LP.

How about a review, including consideration of Epi's new Burstbucker copies? A sound clip would also be nice if you can. I'm dying to hear it in action.

I can't quite put into words

the first thought when I plugged it into my practice rig>

the one I usually plug my other modified Epi LP into.

This guitar absolutely smoked.

Crunch in the places most needed but a nice back-off attack

with the Pro-Bucker 3, it's great tone.

Even though I haven't looked under the hood yet I'm wondering what sort of capacitors it has?

If I had to describe the body and the way the neck feels it's quite simple.

Take a Gibson Les Paul Studio Blackout and add a Traditional Ebony face to it and you're right there.

I've never seen anything like this faded neck and back on an Epiphone LP before.

It's just so unique...doesn't appear to be veneered, maybe..and I mean MAYBE one seam on the body but it could've been where the blade stopped then started again. The grain pattern runs all the way around with the tiny pores evident in an ever running stream...pattern.

The neck doesn't appear to be more than one piece. Even into the neck/body where there would be an apparent 2nd piece...it's not there.

I simply can't believe my eyes, and my hands can't get enough of her.

The Traditional Pro is a knockout!

Best thing they've done in a while.

I'm very happy for you' date=' Gas ... I [i']knew[/i] you'd be happy with this guitar!

Congrats and happy playing to you, buddy!

Jim

Thanks!

And I believe yours were the first actual pictures I'd seen that made my jaw drop!

It's going in for a set-up this weekend. Can't get past that!

Like all my other guitars it will get the obligatory must-have Gibson TP-6 Tailpiece added.

The frets feel really good and the neck is super smooth...but my hired hand should be able to determine if it'll need a slight filing or not.

It'll be a little like sending the lad to boarding school...sure will miss 'im.

Come home soon
