so, if must of you have been following the thread started by legs" bad influence". you would know i pulled the trigger on a used cat4 item from muscian's friend,

the item-- john lennon inspired casino in natural

the issue- produces no sound

the cost- 419.00 --what, for a 1000.00 guitar

if you have checked out mf for these used items, cat 4 is usually damaged goods they would rather sell then return to cut overhead. normally the items in the area of guitars are really bad broken head stock, cracked neck and so on. well i called them on this one and per the sales rep what is described online is what the warehouse says is the issue.

the rub!! ---cat 4 items are final sells, they do not know if you will get every item that would normally come with a new/ undamaged item ( case and goodies). what if i could not fix the issue.

but seriously, that's more than 50% off. I have modded a few guitars and feel it is worth a gamble.

Brain, sorry!!!!!!!

what a steal:-" . i got everything , case, pickguard, cord, tr wrench, sticker, manual and poster. the guiatar had no finish issues and was set-up awesome out of the very nice epiphone hardcase. The pickguard was a added bonus, since the sunburst is the only pics on mf that show it (not putting it on).

the issue-- no sound from bridge pup. could be loose wire, no!!!, bad pot, no!!! D@#$ bridge pup. wait that soulder on the mess part of the pup wire looks odd. snip and restrip, bingo!!! the ground sleeve was solder to the pup hot right thru the black cloth.

SO, HAPPY NEW INSPIRED BY JOHN LENNON CASINO DAY TO ME (used#-o )!!!!!!![confused]:-k[biggrin] [biggrin]

OOPS, THE DEAL WITH THE WIFE- GOT TO SELL OF SOME GUITARS, no worries, i plan to sell some anyways to plan for a nice purchase come my birthday in feb 2011!!

enjoy the pics

you did well indeed!

i once ordered a brand new cat-1 acoustic from them...

it got here, i could not play anything above the 7th fret. nothing.

the truss rod was adjusted.... still the same.... bad neck?

I gave it to the local goodwill here in the area.. with a label

on it stating the problem.

maybe someone bought it from goodwill to use as a wall hanging.

i will not buy from that place again.

it was cheaper for me to give it away than go through all the

hassle to send it back.

Nice.

Is that case the standard Epiphone case for 335 guitars, that you can buy separately? I ask because I got a Thomman own-brand case for my Casino, the lock broke and so I had to pry the latch off with a screwdriver, which needless to say no longer works. Also, I can feel/hear the guitar move around quite a bit if I wobble the case.

Is the Epiphone case a good, tight, protective fit?

yes it is the one you can buy for the standard 335. the case hugs the casino nicely. it being a hollow body makes for a lighter weight to carry also.

but, the one on mf is not as nice in detail. this one may be a newer version than the one i see on their website

Check out a GATOR case.

Go to sweetwater.com to see the cases.

CLICK HERE: GATOR type 335 case

I think that would be the case.... call them and check to be sure it is the correct sized case.

I have this case for my Epi LUCILLE.

i really took a big gamble!!!!! for the most part i expected no case and goodies and guitar i might not be able to fix. when determined it was the pup that was the issue i was not happy about have to replace a gibson usa pup. it worked out very nicely indeed.

Even if you had to replace all electronic components, it still would have been a pretty good deal. Now I'm going to check their used section for something that also produces no sound.
