grampa
I just heard an interview with Mellencamp on NPR about his hew record, "No Better Than This". He's gone retro and simple and it sounds great!
NeoConMan
Retro? How far back? Hafta be twenty years for me to be interested. I have all of his stuff through Human Wheels, when I began to lose interest. Wonder who's playing guitar for him now? Wanchic? Anybody else? grampa
What I heard had a rockabilly feel and the production was very raw and old sounding. He said he wished he could have recorded directly onto a wax disc so that the sound would be very old and primitive sounding.
recsec
I heard the same interview, if you go on the NPR.org website music section you can find a video and hear the report plus another cut from the album. I enjoyed the video and the cut provided and I am looking forward to the new album. It was interesting at the end of the interview that he said that the internet is the end of "Rock and Roll". Daryl M
I'm anxious to hear it. I haven't always got into what he was doing, but he was never afraid to dive into uncharted waters.
Dragoro
Why is he still making albums? According to him, Rock and Roll is dead.

RockabillyHell
It's a good album. One Microphone for the whole band, an old Ampex recorder and one take per song. Just goes to show that a good band doesnt need modern technical wizardry and Pro-tools to make a good record.
