Strange Wire

im re doing my les paul special 2 again and as i was completely taking everything apart i found a thin black coated wire that is grounded to the tone pot and the other end of the wire is sticking out of where the tail piece post is underneath the anchor. any ideas what this is and what its for?

Replace it properly, otherwise you'll be experiencing "humming/buzzing"

that only goes away if you touch the strings, tailpiece, bridge...

 

That out of the way - WHAT are you planning for your GIT????

Haven't had a lot of time to hit the forum lately, been

spending about 4 hours a day playing/practicing - Night Ranger Leads,

Whitesnake leads, Skynyrd leads. Ahhhrrrgghh!

 

Anyway, gotta bail to work for few. Interested in seeing PICS of the latest

LP Special project as you go!!!!!
