Blueman335
I've always thought that (dark) 'British racing green' is a great color for guitars (and cars).
charlie brown
Maybe Epiphone could build another "Elitist" version, even in a "limited edition," version, with the Kalamazoo ('60's) headstock shape, mini-humbuckers, and Faded Cherry color option, as well as Stop tail, frequensator, or Bigsby options, too. I know, I'm "dreaming," Again!! But, it's a nice thought, anyway! CB

I know, I'm "dreaming," Again!! But, it's a nice thought, anyway! CB There was actually more than one "60's" headstock shape, although one shape did have a longer run ('63 to '69). The short headstock was used in the first few years, beginning in the late 50's and up to '62. The original red finish option was called "Cherry", not "Faded Cherry", as you keep repeating. :) Here are some pics of my '62 Cherry is by far the rarest finish, according to most books. "Natural" and "Shaded" (i.e., sunburst) were the other two options. I have seen at least one other 60's color on a Sheraton- a burgundy metallic (not sure if that was the official name of the color). The Tremotone vibrato tailpiece is a very nice design, in my opinion. Some of the earlier Sheratons had wider necks than the ones from the mid-to-late 60's. Mine is nearly 1 3/4" at the nut. Note that the "Epiphone" script on the head is streamlined (like the '63 to '69 versions), as compared to the earlier, fatter script on the earliest Sheratons with the New York stock necks. The mini-humbuckers are to have fallen down and died. ;) GREAT guitars. More and better custom reissues would indeed be nice.
charlie brown
Yeah, I just referred to it, as "Faded" Cherry, because that's what Gibson calls that color, now...for some reason. But, "Cherry" or "Faded Cherry," either one, would be great! The original headstock, shown in those photos, or the later (longer?) "Kalamazoo" version, would be fine, as well. Epi really NEEDS to do this!! And, a Riviera, to original specs, as well! CB
BillyGibson
Has it already been a year? Epi did some great hollow and semi-hollow bodies in '11. Maybe this will be the year for the Sheraton.
Alan189
Yes! Would it be too much to ask for one with the 60's shaped headstock??? mgm Tell me about it, that colour and 60's style headstock? They would fly off the shelves! (or hangers)
JimR56
The original headstock, shown in those photos, or the later (longer?) "Kalamazoo" version, would be fine, as well. My '62 was made in Kalamazoo also, so it probably makes more sense to just refer to the later ('63-'69) style as "long headstock" or "elongated headstock". JimR56
There might be some hope......... http://www.epiphone.com/News/Features/News/2011/Happy-New-Year-from-Epiphone!.aspx "Epi Stathopoulo's father Anastasios had just filed his first patent for a bowel-back style mandolin..." "bowel-back"?
Clanky44
I'd pick up a Cherry, or a Royal tan,... or a Tobacco burst if I could find any in my neck-o-the-woods that doesn't have finish flaws. Elitist version would be ideal, but would take a MIC as long as the quality is there, my understanding is that the MIC '61 re-issue Casinos were very well done. JimR56
sorry, I'm not familar with the history of mandolins...... Oh, I wasn't blaming you. :) There's a mandolin style called a "bowl-back" (shaped like a bowl). I thought their "bowel" error was kind of funny. I thought the models shown on the pic might be some of the new models coming in 2012 I wonder. Anyway, it's nice to see an old 60's catalog photo. Strav's_fire
Some 60's spec Sheratons and Rivieras, with a good selection of colours and an option of a Bigsby would be really good! Not fussed about specials or customs, just give me a good quality original spec standard with a few options (i.e. not just one colour!)

And I'd much prefer to see another "reissue" done to Kalamazoo spec's, and Elitist quality, regardless of which country they're manufactured in.
