ASD doesn't always accept all types of files.

ASD is the best I ever found. I would say it is easier to find audio file converters ( audacity converts quite a few) than a good tool like ASD....

Roland makes a "Band in a box" peice of hardware with propritary software that does that quite well, and allows for loops and recordings and such, it's not cheap but I've seen it in action and it's awesome.
