I'm no expert but I've seen them go for more.

You could use the internet to compare others and see if that's a fair price. I've always used the old saying, "Is it worth that much to me?" as my buying guide line.

there was a well-worn but stable SB '68 w/adj in a shop here that sold for 2000. 1K sounds awesome if in good shape.

I agree. Just look out for 2 things: bellying and make sure the narrow nut is not a bother to you. If it has bellying, it could be the sign of possibly having to put in $$ for a new bridge, backplate, braces or even a neck reset. (Lessons learned personally).
